    Default Hi! I'm new

I'm pretty new here. I had found the board a long time ago & just ran across it again. I'm so glad I did!

I'm a SAHM to 2 little boys, Bryson-almost 3 and Carson who will be 1 on the 24th! I'm trying to majorly lower our bills and debts. I thought our grocery bill will be a great place to start.

I have a major sweet tooth & we have a nasty caffenine addiction. I MUST get us off the pepsis.

Carson is now on milk, so we go through a good bit of that in a week too. I usually shop once a week and spend about 65.00. I'm sure there are ways to lower that. I would like to start shopping evert two weeks too!

Hello Stephanie. Welcome to the Village.
If you get a minute, read the grocery challenge in the tips and challenges section. You might pick up some ideas there! Also the debt reduction challenge is a good one to review.

I am also working on reducing grocery spending and increasing the pantry stockpile for winter. I am currently doing the following:

    Making a price book

Shopping loss leaders and matching coupons to those items

Only buying items that we need and use no matter what the price

Shopping at Aldis and Save a Lot. The products are good and the prices are great!

Using up all the leftovers and/or freezing every little bit. I am finding that using ALL the food in the house is saving me alot

I need to try OAMC yet but I am making several casseroles or meatloafs at one time and freezing the surplus for meals on days when I dont want to cook. This is helping me to eliminate eating out so often which is saving me considerable money

Am also making coffee and lunches for DD and DH to save $$

Hope you find lots of idea that help!

Hello Stephanie welcome to the Village!

I used to be addicted to diet pepsi. Even though it doesn't have sugar, it has that nasty artificial sweetener that isn't good for you either. It will take a bit, but you can do it.

I too shop loss leaders at the grocery store. Today that's what I did. Our stores around here have 10 items for $10. You can mix and match. Do they have that where you are? If so take advantage and start a small stockpile to get you started on grocery savings in the future.

Hi Stephanie..Welcome..i have just discovered a little something extra to save on the grocery bill...some of you already have heard of it..it is called Angelfood ministries. how it works..you pay $25 a month for about 12 lbs of meat & some canned goods, bread mixes, dessert...they will have a different menu every month. Anyway, it is through participating churches and it is for anyone who wishes to do this; no matter your denomination or income. All you have to do is look up Angelfood ministries on the net & see if there is a church in your area that participates, and if they do, give them a call . this is our first month doing this, and I am really excited about it. The meat that they are offering this month are good cuts and if I were to buy it at the local store, it would cost a little over $25 alone.
