    Question Chili anyone

What's your favorite chili recipe? We had chili for supper tonight.
    My recipe:
Brown ground beef and chopped onion, drain fat. Put in large pot and add 2 cans of chili beans, 2 cans of kidney beans and a large can of tomatoe juice. I use chili seasoning, and red pepper, for heat. Serve with crackers, shredded cheese, or tortillia chips. Yummy!

Well, I'm vegetarian, so I make mine with a can of stewed tomatoes, onion, celery, green pepper, kidney beans (yum!) and mild spices (Dh can't handle stuff that's too spicy). Then, when the rest of it is done, I divide it into two and mix in ground meat in one half and TVP (textured vegetable protein) in the other half. Yummers!

Ground beef, onions, garlic and peppers sauted together I then drain the fat off. Next I add 2 cans chopped tomatoes and 2 cans tomato sauce. Chili powder and a few dashes of hot sauce, s+p. I stir the kidney beans in at the end just to heat through. Shredded cheese, oyster crackers and sour cream to compliment. Sometimes I serve it over rice.

I always make a small pot (just me and DH)
    I use:
1 lb. ground beef..browned, chopped finely, drained,...sometimes I will add chopped onion

1 can of Chili Magic Texas style (kinda spicy)

1 can of petite diced tomatoes

Mix together and simmer around 20 minutes...yummy!!!!!!!

I eat mine with cheddar cheese and sour cream on top....DH just adds hot sauce

The chili recipes look very delicious. I haven't tried it with sour cream, or with rice(ds's like rice, me too). Dh is a meat eater, so I don't think he would like vegetarian style(I would though). I like tomatoes in chili, but no one else around here will eat it that way. Nada, I will have to make your recipe for my self. It sounds really good.
Thanks everyone for sharing your chile recipes

My chilli is usually vegetarian, made up of fried onions, celery, peppers and chilli beans and a can of tomatoes to which I add however many dried chillis I feel brave enough for!! If I make enough of it, it'll usually last a couple of days (once with rice, maybe for lunch with pitta bread/tortilla chips and then with added water/tomatoes to make a winter warmer soup). I love chilli, possibly the best meal on the planet!

After seeing this thread last week, and the girl I work with bring some leftovers in for lunch one day that is all I could think of.

I made a crockpot full last night. I have it portioned out for extra meals to bring to work and for dinner this week since Joe is out of town for the next 2 days.

Here is how I make mine (keep in mind I don't follow directions to well or measure seasonings.....lol)

~2 packets of McCormick chili seasoning (one mild & one original)
~Garlic powder & Onion Powder to taste (a lot of times I'll add some to the meat while browning it and then add extra to the crockpot as well)
~3 cans of diced tomoatoes (chili ready or plain or mix and match)
~2 cans of Bushes Chili ready beans
    ~3 lbs of ground beef
~2 small or 1 large can of tomato sauce

Simmer in a crockpot until bubbley. Serve, top with oyster crackers & shredded cheese (sour cream is good as well)

I know on the seasoning packets it has 2 cans of beans to 1 lbs of meat, but I like the tomatoes and meat better than all the beans so I reduce the beans and added a second can of tomatoes instead

I've added a couple of jalapeno peppers to it before but can only do that in my bowl as Joe doesn't like things as spicy as I do.

My "recipe" depends on what I've got around. Brown lots of onions, peppers and mushrooms if I've got them (sometimes I use about 1/2 lb ground beef, turkey or tvp. Just depends on how I feel). Put in crockpotand add 1 bottle beer, 1 large can Brooks chili hot beans and a small can aldi chili beans. 1 small can tomato paste. I throw in some chopped garlic, paprika and lots of chili powder. I usually add tobasco to mine at the table with some shredded cheese. Dh eats his with cheese and crackers. Kids eat a pbj, LOL, they don't like beans.

I think I'll make a large batch of this tomorrow night. We'll have leftover chicken from tonight's meal, I'm sure, and I'll put ground beef in there too. The kids love it with corn bread. I'll freeze the leftovers.
