need ideas
Good morning everyone,
I am kinda new at this so bear with me. The school strike here has come to a temporary end with it starting Wednesday. This will the first year in 17 years that I have to get someone off to school. My husband daughter is not a picky eater thank heavens but she eats and eats and eats and eats. I think she has a hole in her foot. When she came here in June she weighed in at a little over 70 pounds. She's 12. Now she's up to 90! To kinda recap when she lived with her mother there was very little food. More drugs and alchol. They lived basically on potpies and oodles of noodles. My question is how do we pack a lunch that will fill her up? I've looked over the school menu and hot dogs and hamburgers are not exactly how I want to spend 1.60 a day let alone fill her up on grease, fat and whatever other nice things are included. Sorry this is so long but as I said I haven't done this in awhile.

Wraps are a really good and filling choice. Add some fresh cut up veggies with some rand dressing for dipping and a fruit cup and yum!
Here's some wrap recipes~ http://busycooks.about.com/od/breadr...a/wrapsand.htm~*Darlene*~

Alot of protein and fresh fruit will help out. How about some chicken wings/legs/breast strips and some ranch to dip it in? Add a few mini carrots or pickles even and a piece of fruit. I wouldn't go cold turkey, I would throw in a little debbie snack too. Protein and fiber will fill her up, but not "fill her out", kwim? Even PBJ on whole wheat is better than a school hot dog.
How about a 1/3 to 1/2 half of a frozen pizza and some fruit/veggies? Let her give you some ideas too and it won't seem like work for you.

I have a teenage son so I am familiar with the hole in the foot thing - lol! I pack two sandwiches- normally one meat and cheese and the other pbj. He takes popcorn and a fruit or veggie. He loves tea so I have been sending a thermos of that. I try to give him a good send off with a large breakfast and when he gets home he usually has another sandwich or ramen (not healthy but it is his favorite food).
