    Default Yummy Crockpot Porkchops

I made this for dinner tonight and it was so good I just had to share! I didn't get the recipe from anywhere, I just got an idea in my head and decided to try it out. I had a back-up dinner incase it didn't work out.

    Ingredients:
    3 very thin porkchops ($1.80)
    1 onion ($0.36)
    2 lbs red potatoes ($0.95)
8oz Ken's Garlic and Herb marinade (Free)
    Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder
    (Total for this dinner, $3.11)

First I put a little bit of the marinade at the bottom of the crockpot. I sliced the onion into about 1/4 inch thick rings and I layered them along the bottom of the crockpot. Then I put the pork chops on top of the onions, and a little more marinade. Last I cut the potatoes into quarters and put them on top of the pork chops, and then the rest of the marinade. I sprinkled the top with Salt Pepper and Garlic Powder. I set the crockpot to low. Then we went to the zoo. We came home to a yummy dinner!

Substitutions: You could use thicker pork chops if that's what you have. It would be good with chicken too I'm sure. You could probably substitute italian dressing, or liption onion soup mixed with water for the marinade. Or just water and spices if you want!
Also, I wanted to put carrots in, but I didn't have any. Next time I make this I'll definitely throw in a bag of baby carrots!

Oh, it cooked for 7 and 1/2 hours, but that's because we weren't home. I think it would have been fine at 6 hours.

I hope you guys try this and love it as much as we did!

Woo Hoo, I just happen to have all the fixin's for this meal already! Of course I'll have to double the recipe, since DH always takes his lunch from dinner the night before and DD and I eat the leftovers for our lunch next day too.

Thanks, I'll try it this week and let you know how we like it. I bet chicken would be good too.

DH requested shake and bake pork chops tonight, but I have more chops in the freezer, so I think I'll start this Saturday night for dinner Sunday, after church.

Question: Does it make a good sauce/gravy to serve over rice?

I have porkchops in the frig. Think I'll make this in the crockpot right now. I don't have your marinade, but, I think I have something that will work.

    Thanks for the post.

There was a small bit of saucey goodness at the bottom, but if you add a little bit of water to it before cooking you might be able to get more sauce out of it.

Thanks, I'll try that. It's worth a shot. DH thinks he has to have rice with everything.

I had some coupons for $2 off one Ken's Marinade, and they were on sale a few weeks ago for $2 so they were free!

And yes, the potatoes on the top did get a little bit crispy, but only where they were touching the sides of the crockpot.

Sounds really tasty. I'm going to start using my crockpot more--just hate to heat the house up with the oven.
