We either have smorgasboard night, hodgepodge night, or just plain old leftovers. It just depends on what I feel like. I have also found that mixing up the name helps.

That's cute! Once when he was 4, my son asked me to make "toothpicks" like they had at a party at school, which was just meat, veggies, and cheese on toothpicks like appetizers. I guess someone's mom had brought them. So I did, and for MONTHS and I do mean MONTHS it was the only way I could get him to eat! I did get him to eat a lot of good stuff, like raw veggies and fruit, but it was a real chore trying to find creative ways to make "toothpicks". We still laugh about that. One day, he just wanted friend chicken, and thus ended the toothpick odyssey.

You can take advantage of the free samples if you don't buy anything or only buy what you need. My husband and I go to Sam's Club about once a month for bubble envelopes. We have a free lunch by walking around and eating all the samples.

I liked her creativity. Over here there have been many cheap-get-through-the-week-until-payday meals and instead of feeling bad, we've dressed plates up to be more fun and it's made all the difference because of how the food was presented.
Like zakity, we've also done many smorgasbord type leftover meals nights too.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I remember my mother calling leftover night a smorgasbord. We all knew it was leftover night.
