    Default steaks steaks steak!

My DH bought a TON of steaks from a vendor that was going door to door last summer. We are on a tight budget for now and I need some recipes to use these steaks up! We have every kind so ALL recipes will be welcomed! I also need them to be frugal recipes...I can't afford to make very classy steak meals!

I don't have any "recipes" per se, but I do know how to use up leftovers.

I fry a bit cubed up with potatoes, salt & pepper.

Stick strips in the crockpot with taco seasoning and a bit of water for fajitas or steak tacos.

steak breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs & cheese.

    use as stew meat

take the LO steak cubed and make some gravy with broth (boullion) and mix with some egg noodles.

    Chili meat (this is *yummy*!)

LOL! We're really plain 'round here.

We hardly have steak, *steak*, but when we do, I try to use up any leftovers. Even *one* steak (or the equivalent) is enough for my family fried with potatoes.

I have made stew and soup from leftover steak.

If you know someone at a local grocery store that you normally buy your groceries at, they may be willing to grind some into hamburger for you.

When we barbecue or broil in the oven, we use different marinades to change the taste. For instance one day we might marinade with wine, another day with italian dressing and another day with homemade or packaged marinade mix. You could top the prepared steaks with sauteed onions or mushrooms or both.

Another thing you could do is to salt and pepper the steaks, put them in the crockpot with sliced onions, sliced green peppers and a can of tomatoes to make Swiss steak. This is great served with rice.

If I have a cheaper cut of meat - I will put it in the crockpot with lots of seasonings and some water and let it cook all day. Then when we are ready for dinner, I will pull most of the meat out of the juice and mix with cream of mushroom soup - this will make very tender beef and gravy. Then, I will save the juices from the crockpot and make a vegetable soup with it.

I slice up steaks and pan-fry them with fajita seasonings, onions, and peppers for fajitas.... yum!

    Here's a good fajita marinade: http://www.recipezaar.com/106371

I slice it up really thin (especially a tough cut) and put it in a bag with marinade - nothing special, just whatever I have on hand. I usually freeze it in the marinade, if it wasn't previously frozen. Then I use it for stirfry - one tiny steak is enough for everyone, since the stirfry is mainly vegetables.

When we barbeque steak, I always make one extra. Then the next day we have steak sandwiches. This is better with a good cut of meat. Slice the steak up thin, fry with garlic, onions and mushrooms. I open the buns and spread garlic butter on them and toast them slightly, then spread a layer of meat mixture, a bit of mozzarella, then more meat and top with more mozzarella (the cheese in the middle helps to hold it together). Since you are filling up on bun and the onions/mushrooms take up a lot of space, so one steak makes at least 3 big sandwiches.
