How often does your family have dessert?
I was just wondering, how often does everyone have dessert. And what do you have for dessert ona regular basis?
I love dessert but try not to have it everynight as I really need to loose weight. The kids however, love to have it everynight, and if I tell them there's only fruit in the bowl they screw their noses up (the will eat tinned fruit for dessert, they think that fruit from the bowl is lunch box food).
I love to cook so there's no problem there only the time factor as I work.
Part of me thinks that dessert is a sometimes food and shouldn't be eaten everynight (but what's wrong with fruit, right?), but if the kids are hungry then they should be able to have something (especially something healthy).
What are other members ideas?

I love a little something sweet after my meal..that's how I was raised....clean your plate and you can have dessert.
I will make something on the weekends and we will have it until its gone and that's usually by Wed. or Thursday. Then on Saturday or Sunday I will make another dessert or something to snack on.Donna F.

How about fancying up the fruit, such as a fruit salad or a fruit parfait? Or with a peanut butter dip or yogurt dip?

There is always something sweet in my house. We don't really do dessert as I want them full at dinner from healthy food. When they get "snack" a couple hours after dinner though, it's usually something sweet. It's not necessarily "junk" food, even though it's sweet. Things like pumpkin, banana, zuchini, and nut bread are almost always found at my house. Apples may be dipped in carmel or sugary cereal may be eaten dry. Cookies can frequently be found as well (although I guess I can't make them healthy, they're just yummy).

We have dessert after every meal. During the week it's usually yogurt(?) (can't remember how to spell that in English) or pudding or fruit. My DH and kids always put whipcream on their fruit. On Sunday we usually have some kind of yummy specialty ice-cream or pudding.

Now that it's just the 2 of us we don't have any dessert type foods in the house ever unless we'll be having guests for dinner.
I really miss the occasional cookie & have to get my baking fix by making biscuits, breads & muffins that we'll have for dinner. When we have grandchildren someday, the cookie jar will always be filled & I'll once again have little hands helping me do it.

If we want something sweet after a meal or as a snack we always have ice cream or frozen yougurt in the freezer, it is DH's secret vice
. I will occassionally make a cake or some cookies and they will last several days but they usually go stale before we finish them so I don't bake them very often.

We only have dessert perhaps once a month. All of us have to watch the weight so we try to keep sweets/junk food to a minimum in the house. We have tons of fruit and yogurt so those are up for grabs whenever they like.

We don't really do dessert, but the more nights I work the quicker the ice cream in the freezer disappears, lol. And the telltale dish in the sink lets me know just who got into it!
I tell hubby he'd better watch out when I'm working the holiday rush or he might get a spread going!

I only serve dessert after holiday meals and on birthdays. Other than that there is always something to have for an evening snack, fruit, yogurt, cheese and crackers, banana or pumpkin bread. Once in a while we will go in town for an ice cream, I don't buy ice cream for the house because my waist line doesn't need it here. I know I would eat more of it if we had it in the freezer.

We usually have dessert on Sundays and holidays. I rarely fix anything during the week, unless we have someone over for dinner.
