We seldom eat desserts, but some of the cheapest are jello, snickerdoodle and sugar cookies.

Easy Chocolate Mousse
1 package instant chocolate pudding
1 cup milk
1 12oz container whipped topping
Prepare pudding with 1 cup milk. Fold in thawed topping. Fill flutes or small wineglasses with mousse. Chill for 4-6 hours. Garnish with chocolate shavings. 4-5 servings.
Since the going rate for mousse in restaurants in astronomically high, I think that $.35 a serving, homemade, is pretty 'cheap'.~Constance

Pop a big bowl of popcorn and as soon as it's done popping, lightly toss with cinnamon and sugar.
Whatever-fruit-is-in-season fruit crisp.
We have our own milk and eggs, so puddings, custards, ice cream, yogurt, etc. are cheap for us.

These older threads have some good ones! My go to favorite is an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream atop.

A favorite around here is take any cheap cake mix, prepare as instructed, but instead of baking pour some in the waffle maker! YUM! We love the chocolate, then top however you want, ice cream, whipped cream, icing, make a sundae on top of it, etc.

Floats are super cheap, and my kids love them, mostly because it's the only time I'll let them have pop. Just put a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream in a glass and fill it with whatever flavour of pop you like. Our favorites are orange or root beer. Buying generics make it really inexpensive.

Congealed salads are my favorites. Jello with fruit, layered with whipped topping, or not. If you use the sugar-free, and fresh fruit or packed in juice canned fruit, it's pretty healthy too.
My son loves a slice of pound cake (or those strawberry shortcakes) with fruit cocktail and cool whip. Not too bad, actually.

Pumpkin Pie Pudding
This is the best time of year for this
1 can pumpkin pie filling, the Libby's with the spices already in it, NOT canned pumpkin
1 small box sugar free instant vanilla pudding
cool whip or whipped cream
Mix pumpkin pie filling and vanilla instant pudding until well blended. Put it in the fridge for 15-20 minutes. Serve topped with cool whip or whipped cream.
I love this because its quick and tastes just like pumpkin pie without the crust.“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

i've been making a yummy pumpkin cake - all you need is a small can of pumpkin and a cake mix (i've used butter pecan, caramel, chocolate, yellow, white and carrot so far) - combine the two ingredients and bake in an 8x8 pan at 350 for around 30 minutes or as directed on your box - very yummy and cheap - it is like a very dense cake/brownie.
another cheap but goodie is dump cake:
1 can cherry pie filling
1 can pineapple chunks
cake mix
1 stick of butter
pour pie filling and pineapple in a baking dish - sprinkle cake mix on top then cut up margarine/butter. bake according to cake directions.

This recipe is soooo easy and soooo good. If you get the candy bars on sale and buy a store brand of the whip topping and pie crust, it's pretty inexpensive too!
Nestle Crunch Pie
8 Nestle Crunch candy bars
1-8 oz Cool Whip
1 graham cracker pie crust
Microwave candy bars until completely melted. Mix melted candy bars with Cool Whip. Pour into pie crust and freeze. Serve directly from freezer.
Very rich and tastes like chocolate mousse.

We have dessert all the time. Usually its some form of jello because my dented can store sells it for .10 a box. The same with pudding. We also make crisps, pies and fruit salads with what ever is in season.

There is a thing called a dump cake. I would have to look up recipe. But it is something like just fruit and dump a cake mix in.
