    Default cajun appetizer

My mom is making gumbo for Christmas eve dinner and I would like to make an appetizer that will go along well with it. Any ideas? I'd like to make something with fairly basic ingredients. Bread or potatoes would be great, but ALL suggestions are welcomed. TIA!!!

Well I don't know any cajun appetizers but this past weekend we had friends over to watch football and I made a cheese ball w/crackers, and meatballs in the crockpot. I put 2 lbs of pre-made frozen meatballs in (you can make your own, cook them first) and made a sauce, 1 1/2 c. Heinz chili sauce and 1 1/2 c. grape jelly. Mix the two in a saucepan, heat and stir until jelly dissolves. Pour on top of the meatballs in the CP. I cooked them on high for 2 hours. You can do the same thing with BBQ sauce. DH doesn't like BBQ sauce so I made them the other way. They got gobbled up!
