A little hockey anyone?
Do we have any hockey fans in the village?
If so, who are you rooting for? I put this in "the shed" because I remember a thread here around this time last year about the Stanley Cup, but I want to hear from our lady fans too!!marie/andrea

We grew up as HUGE Islander fans here. (Think the Nystrom, Flately, LaFontaine, the Sutters, and Billy Smith) We haven't followed hockey in quite a few years because we'd have to pay extra for the channels to get it here. We did say next time we go back to visit (Dh still has a sister on the Island) we were going to scheadule it around an Islander/Ranger game.
Nothing like the good natured rivalry at one of those!

As a Finn, ofcourse icehockey interests me. There are Finns playing in the NHL (Koivu, Selänne, Jokinen, Ruutu, Lehtinen and many more) but I am more interested in our own league. And there are the WC games in Halifax and Quebec right now.

My DS LOVES hockey. He's a big fan of the Dallas Stars. He'd love to be able to play, but here in south Texas, it's just too expensive.

We love hockey.....of course our Ducks were out in the first round!
They did win the cup last year though!!
I like Dallas and San Jose so we would be fine with either one of them winning and then going all the way to win the cup!

we're in dallas and dh and I are huge San Jose fans so last night was pretty rough! gah..... seven periods we quite enough. Sharks certainly put up a fight and made the Stars really work for it. I'm proud of my boys either way. They worked really hard. Would have liked to see Devin Setoguchi in last night's game though.

I liked Dallas better when they were the Northstars!! I was a big fan of them way back then!!
I was hoping San Jose would pull it off!! Not sure who I'm rooting for now but I do hope the Western conference takes it again this year!!

I'm in Halifax and watched the Canada/USA World Championship lastnight....WOO-HOOO Canada!! We won 5-4, it was a bit of a nailbiter game!! Finland had COOL Jerseys, and will more than likely be even more than a threat with Saku Koivu back. There are also a TON of LAtvians here and they are having a blast...Halifax LOVES hockey

As for NHL...GO PENS!!!!!! Sidney Crosby is from here, in fact one of my now husband and I's first dates was watching Sidney when he played with the Dartmouth Subways here at 11 years old! So, I've been a Penguins fan ever since he joined them....I would love to see the OTHER Pride of Nova Scotia (second to Alexander Keith's Beer
) take the team all the way!!!!!

USA was really good even though Canada won the game. I donīt think we (Finland) have any chance against you guys. Our main enemy has always been Sweden (in hockey, otherwise we are friendly neighbours) and they have such a poor team this year that we just have to beat them. Their new goalkeeper is good though, propably the best goalkeeper in the world, so that might be a problem.

Hockey is ok, I don't really care too much for sports. A good basketball game is fun once in awhile. About the only sport I'm into is PC gaming.
