Default How To Spend Your Stimulas Check

How to use Your IRS Rebate check

As you may have heard, the Bush Administration said each of us would get a rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer, it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the US.

Ours went to our mortgage. I guess that stayed in the US... I don't know if that would be considered stimulating the economy though. I have to agree though, it can be kind of tough to keep it in the US to stimulate OUR economy...

Ours is going to pay off a loan. So, we won't be stimulating anyone's economy. haha

We just got ours and I'll know for sure tonight what were gonna do with it (budget meeting with hubby, yeah!!). We will probably finish off our EF and put some towards our trip to NM this summer. I guess the second one does help stimulate the economy (which is what they wanted), but we haven't taken the boys to see my folks in a while and we really need to. If the gas prices keep going up, even the stimulus check won't help much.

I just transferred our to our Money Market account. We'll be using it (along with the rest of our savings) to purchase (for cash) a mobile home to put on the new property & then we'll use what's left to buy logs of the house.

You are right!!! A few good ways to keep the money at home and help stimulate the economy would be to:

spend it at farmers markets...and only spend it on locally grown produce. You help yourself by eating fresh veggies/fruits and you help your local farmer.

spend it at local greenhouses buying flowers/plants.

Search and buy only products that are made in the USA...this is hard, but it can be done I did it for Christmas last year.

Save it or pay off on your debt...this may only help stimulate your economy...but, when it comes right down to it you are the one who counts!

~Well, at the price we pay other countries for their goods, I think at least half of what you spend on foreign made stuff stays in the US. We're planning on getting replacement windows. They're made in NJ and installed by local contractors. And it's definately a good idea to buy your produce locally. That's a big goal for me this summer as well.~
