If you have already paid the IRS - you will get the full amount. If you still owe, then IRS will take out what is theirs and send you a paper check. If in doubt call the IRS, Hope it helps.

some of us recieved ours rather early, one because we didn't owe and two, because we had our original refunds direct deposited -

so I didn't have to wait for the stim check to come in the mail, it was direct deposited.

just thought that tid bit may be helpful for you.

Not meaning to thread jack, just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this since it's along to same lines. I'm confused as well.

DH and I have a tax debt from 06 from his freelance business that we've been making payments on (we're about half way done.) Does anyone know if our stim check will actually get to us, or if it'll just be applied to that balance? Either way the whole thing is going to debt. Which debt will depend on if we get it or not I guess.

    tia if anyone knows!

Nope! Will be applied to your outstanding balance. From the website FAQs:
    Q. I'm eligible for a payment but I still owe federal income tax from a prior year. Will my payment be reduced?

    A. Yes. For this purpose, the stimulus payment is treated like any other tax refund. This means that part or all of your payment can be used to pay past-due federal or state income taxes or non-tax federal debt such as student loans and child support.

    Q. How will I be notified if my stimulus payment was used to offset an outstanding debt?

    A. If this occurs, you will receive a letter explaining how the stimulus payment was applied.

This is really strange, but we should be getting ours by direct deposit, since that is the way we received our refund. (That's not the strange part ) When I check the chart to see when our check would be deposited, it says we should receive it on May 16th since the last two numbers of the SS are 84. But when I check the site titled "Where is my stimulus payment?", it states that "Info about your specific stimulus payment is not available." So I actually call the IRS and am able to speak to a very nice and helpful customer service rep who is just as puzzled as I am as to why it's not in the system. He runs all our info and says that we do qualify for direct deposit for $1500, but it hasn't been entered into the system for some reason. So now I'm figuring that, the way my luck's been running lately, we'll probably be the only qualified people in the US who the IRS forgets to send a stimulus check to.

Did you do your taxes through H & R block or someone like them and get your refund via their loan? If so, you get a paper check instead of direct deposit. Just thought I would throw that out there in case you were not aware of it.
