emptying the dishwasher can be dangerous
reached down to grab the silverware basket & got punctured by a fork right between my ring and middle finger. not a good place to get hurt. took me a while to bet the bleeding stopped and if it doesn't stay that way i suppose i'll have to se the doc. of coarse it's the hand i use most often. boo hiss.
so beware ladies of evil forks laying in wait. only spoons will be placed near the basket handle from now on. sorry for all lower case letters, easier when using my left hand.~*Darlene*~

OUCH Darlene. I know that had to hurt bad. I hope it heals quickly and you're typing like stenographer again soon
(p.s. it's a great idea to put the knives and forks upside down in the basket --- a little stab of a steak knife taught me that years ago)

I cut myself in that spot and had to get stitches. Evidently there's a small artery that runs through there and it is hard to stop the bleeding without a stitch!

Ouch! Hope it heals quickly. Don't have a dishwasher so I haven't experienced that but did did cut my finger on a steak knife in the sink once. I usually wash all the nice pointy knives seperate from regular silverware but DD slid one in and I had no idea it was there. Gotta love those ducklings.

OUCH!!! When I had a dishwasher we always placed the silverware handle up...that way you don't have to worry about getting poked or cut by a knife.

Sorry that happened and hopefully it will heal quickly. I always turn my knives point side down, but have never thought about doing the forks.

Thanks for the healing wishes. Our dw has these holes you put the silverware in to keep them seperated so it's hard to do the upside down thing. Always hand wash my good knives.
It hasn't bled since this morn so I hope I'm in the clear that it will heal without stitches. Never had stitches before & don't want to,lol.~*Darlene*~

I had this happen to my ds, he was trying to "help" mommy and he got stabbed by a fork!! I always put my silverware all down. This keeps everything in one direction and saves me from worrying about my ds getting hurt again when he wants to help!! Hopefully you won't have a scar, but if you do, you'll have a pretty great story to go with it!!! FEEL BETTER SOON!!!

Oh my; be carefull
I had to go to the emergency room about 2 years ago.
I brought a apple peeler from qvc. and hubby was showing me how to use it
he showed me the wrong way
I had seen it on quvc, a number of times
Anyways , I almost cut my left thumb off !!
I am Diabeitc type 2 and had to go the emrency room.
finally quit bleeding. I had to the a tenis shot and they put glue stuff on my finger; being a diabetic; they didn't want to put in stitches
Best thing is I didn;t have to do dishes for a week!! Ha
I don;t have a dishwasher. I will in our new reitrement home we a currently building. pinkroses

Sorry you had to go to er & wow! Glad you got out of dishwashing. I had to change the dressing tonight & show dh. He hates that kinda thing but I need him to see it for proper sympathy.
He cringed accordingly and if I chose to milk it I could. It's doing much better than I thought & if it stays non bleeding I'll just keep it clean & use it wearing rubber gloves. I could milk it but naaa. I'll bank it. I have my yearly checkup at the docs on Tues and if there is a question I'll have him take a peak. I think I lucked out by milimeters.
