Intersting solution to rising cost
Hey All!
This was in this mornings Cleveland Plain Dealer. It's about an Amish run salvage store. They buy food and meications past their expiration dates and resell them.

Personally I don't know if I could take my chances I hope things don't get so bad I never have to find out.

Wow, these products would make me nervous. Now, I have been to Amish Shops that sell spices and staples in bulk, so you can buy what you need. I never saw anything wrong with that. I would not want to buy expired or opened products though to just save a few dollars.

Many products are still good after their sell buy date...but, I too am one of those who hope I never have to find out. I can see where there would be a market for that type of thing now though.

I would be okay with purchasing "sell by-date expired' foodstuff.
Canned/jar foods are pretty safe. Non edible- no problem. But I'd take a case by case basis for other foodstuff. It's too numerous to individualize. But it depends on the product.

in my home town there were 2 almish stores.. 3 if you counted the butcher... one was bulk foods... the other sold dented and damaged goods.. they were always really carefull to keep it with in sell by dates.. and had return policies on goods if opened and bad. They do some terrific business though!!

We have a B&E salvage store near us. I frequent it often. For the most part I stay away from the expired dates but scratch and dent cans and torn boxes are fine by me. It's also a great place for HBA products like shampoo or razor blades. I've been shopping there for years for some items.
