Memorial Day Parades
This morning I can hear the high school band practicing for the parade. We go every year. How about you? Do you have a parade in your town or city?

The last parade my hometown had that I attended looked like a bunch of random rednecks just milling around aimlessly.
The band, dance team and cheerleaders all just wore jeans and t-shirts. No uniforms. The band never played a note (what is the point of a band then?)
The <ahem> "floats" were 10-12 undecorated cars and pickup trucks. Each one had a white poster on the side. Couldn't read what was written, again what was the point?
That was a few years ago and I haven't bothered to attend one since.

Our city does not do one for Memorial Day.
They do have a "Holiday" parade in December. However, I do not attend. It takes place downtown which means the bad part of town. Too dangerous for me.
Instead we head one city over from us for their Chrstmas parade. It is awesome.DD (19)

We go to one in a small neighboring village. My Dad is fire chief there, so my kiddos get a kick out of seeing Grandpa drive the fire truck.
I didn't go to parades for years before having kids, now we try to hit 2-3 per year!
I will say I am amazed at the amount of candy the kiddos come home with. No one needs that much candy!Jill
