I am being sued!!!!!
I don't even know who these people ARE, and I just got a summons for court... they say I owe them $2501.06.
I don't know who they are... honestly... but I have 5 days to answer the summons...
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Huh. Is it a company? You tried to google them, right?

I`d be finding out who these people are quick.
I`d see about a lawyer you may need one.
If these people are wrong I`d sue .

I hope this is a mistake . keep us updated.

yes, I googled them, they are a collection agency, but I don't even know who they represent... I can't answer the summons until I know who they are, and of course, I can't afford an attorney to call them, nor can I call their attorney....

Some collection agencies will tend to work with particular groups... my friend got a claim from one that worked primarily with libraries of all places. Did you try to call them and ask them about their clients?

You must have forgotten about a bill you had.
I had a lawyer try to sue us for almost 500.00 bucks. When we finally figured out who they were is was for a credit card that we had paid off before we moved. We called the credit card asked what the pay off was and thats how much we gave them. Well it turned out that the pay off amount they told us was wrong and there was still 50.00 left to pay. They never sent us any further bills so we had no idea. For over a year we never heard a word from them, and they kept hitting us with late charges and interest until it was almost 500 bucks. We told them we would give the original 50 that we owed and not a penny more. So they took us to court. WE WON! Judge didn't seem to like them.

We had that happen. DH had to write a letter to the court saying it wasn't his debt. They researched it and threw it out.

Um... looks like they would tell you who they are representing. Might not even be you... they might have the wrong person.

I would think that a collection agency rep. would have to tell you who you owe the debt to (if it is even yours, they could seriously have the wrong person).
Can you get a copy of your credit history to see if something matches up?
Wow, good lucky Lady V, I hope it is a case of mistaken identity or if not you can resolve it quickly.
