Default I am so proud of my DS!

My DS12 has been saving up for an Xbox 360 for over a year. He has saved his birhtday $, Christmas $, allowance and even started mowing lawns to earn extra money. He finally has saved enough for the Xbox Pro brand new, $350 plus 5% tax. I suggested he look on Craigslist before he spends his money. He found an Xbox 360 Elite, practically brand new which retails for $450 plus tax and he only paid $350 flat. He is so proud of himself! He got a better system for less than what he would have spent for a lesser machine. He has learnd a valuable lessen about depreciation! We had the whole converstation about new car buying compared to used car buying too. He was shocked at how much people, as he put it, "get ripped off" buying new!!! WooHoo! He get's it!!!!! Just had to share!

That IS a big "GETS IT"!

    and a huge purchase!
I can not beleive that he really wanted an XBox ... even after saving his hard earned money!!

    wow!!!!

Now.. you know what would be interesting to post on.

    how he treats it.
    how long it lasts
how he feels about it in a month once the novelty wears off.... was the purchase worth it?
    If he sells it later.

    stuff like that.

It would be an interesting learning process about the value of things, the cost of 'stuff'. the priority of the purchases.

I don't have an xbox- and the last game I played on the TV was "Atari tennis"... so- maybe this XBox is some fantastic thing. I don't know. lol!

I have a feeling that he is going to be taking excellent care of it!!!! He saved his money for a pair of shoes he wanted back in the fall and he takes such good care of them. They only cost $20!!!!!!! I will definetly report back to you guys how he feels about the purchase after some time has passed! The funny thing is that he has the system but no games for it! He will have to earn more money to buy used games. It will be fun to see how that goes!!!! Hopefully his buddies will let him borrow a game or two for awhile! If not, he has a whole summer of cutting lawns to look forward too!!!

Good for him. With that kind of determination, he will have saved up enough money for a really decent used car before he is even old enough to drive.

    Way to go.
You are rightfully very proud of him.

I know from the experience of my kids that everything that they had to pay for themselves by working, and working really hard, they have appreciated and really looked after.

My DS did the same thing with buying his Wii. It is such a wonderful experience to watch them go through this epiphany, isn't it? Tell your DS great job and we are all so proud of him!
