Fun and positive solution to gas hikes!
Hey All,
I know that we all are getting down about gas prices and how it will affect our lives. I was joking with a vendor at the antique store where I rent space that gas prices are getting so bad that instead of the Amish paying outsiders to drive them places, we are going to be paying the Amish to give us buggy rides!
In fact, I'm surprised that some enterprising Amish person hasn't already come up with this. You know could call it the Clippity Clop Taxi.
Anyway, what I'm meandering and winding around to is I found this website with specialty bikes. May work some extra hours and get myself a one of the bicycles. I really like the bike you hook up to electrical appliances to make them work.
ONe good thing about all this is that because of high food prices well eat less and because of high gas prices we are going to cycle or walk more places which means we all should lose some weight
okay so here's the link http://bicycleuniverse.info/eqp/ you might have to copy and past into your browser

I never knew there were so many types of bikes. That is amazing. We talk all the time at work about getting bicycles to ride to work. The thing for me is being scared of getting hit by the passing motorists.

I sold my car last fall, and really haven't missed it too much. We still have one family car, but I almost never drive it. We live in a college town, so mostly everything is close together and so I can walk or ride to almost everything without going over 3 miles roundtrip.
I have my bike with a trailer which works great for my little ones, but also for groceries and things I need to haul around!
But now, you've got me thinking...solar powered bike would be pretty nice! DH wants to get a motorcycle to save on gas back and forth to work. Think he'd notice the difference if I just gave him a solar powered bike?
At 32 miles per hour, I would think that would work!

I've been going back and forth between gas powered vehicle and bike. I think the idea is to get away from having to use gasoline But work and most places I go are quite a distance and I couldn't pedal that far.
Another vendor at the antique shop has a son who converted his car engine to use some sort of bio diesel fuel which he makes himself. Now that is something I would like to try but I know zilch about mechanics

Very clever son, I'd say. My DH drives 30 miles one way to work, so I doubt he'd be in the market for a bike! lol

I've often thought that the rising costs of gas just might make us all a bit more healthier.
But those bikes are hysterical!
I have seen the seven person bike in Boston. Someone charges for rides on them. It's hysterical to see because even though you are pedalling sideways.. you're going forward.
And the Amish... Clippity Clop. LOVE IT!!!

Great site!
It may come to this if we hit double digit gas prices (or less). I'd consider it if most people stopped driving around here, otherwise it's pretty dangerous for bike riders.
