Default DH has a new hero!

I woke up to hear my DH laughing at the tv so when I came downstairs he said "I have a new hero!" I turned to the TV to find him watching DAVE RAMSEY!

Little by little, DH is getting onboard with the idea of frugality and saving. I'm so happy.

That's awesome! My husband really likes Clark Howard. He's a radio show host. My DH doesn't have a lot of time to read books and Dave isn't broadcast here, so DH just has to listen to me when I praise Dave Ramsey over and over and over! LOL

This is just fantastic! You're very lucky and far ahead of the frugal game just by being both onboard! I bet you'll see even more changes now that your dh has a new hero!

Default DH has a new hero - updated

    :bumped:

We watch at least one DR show each evening and have really started to look at how we handle our finances. When we got married we made a budget and determined what percentage we needed to contribute to cover that budget. So we each took 30% of our income and put it into the "joint" account. It worked at the time.

But I'm a saver and DH is a spender. So my 70% goes into an account and I wasn't sure just where DH's 70% goes. So I asked him and in his wisdom, he realized that my conversation was driven not out of greed or judgement, but for the benefit of our household and future. (I could have hugged him right then and therem but we were too far away from each other.)

So we have been talking more about our budget and how together we need to be more accountable for a large percent of the income. We waffle here and there but overall I think July is going to bring about a big change for us.

Then, yesterday morning, DH used the phrase "radical debt elimination"....... if I wasn't still in bed I would have fallen over.

So as of our July budget, I think we will be trying Dave's plan (with a bit larger EF to cover a few months) and do some serious debt reduction. I am just so excited about this.

There are still things that I wish to do that I have been saving up for (expanding my garden) and I have enough cash, just not enough time. So I'm hoping that we can still work that into the budget somehow.

    Thanks for letting me share.
