Default A few moments of peace!!

Wow! I don't know how people with "big" families do it. My father-in-law brought four of my nieces and nephews home with him last night because their mom broke her arm really bad (needed surgery and plates put on both lower bones in her arm). But because my father-in-law doesn't know the slightest thing about actually caring for the kids (well, he "knows, it's putting it into action that's the problem) and my mother-in-law is out of town, I have to watch them all. So for the rest of the week at least I have 7 kids!

They all homeschool so they are here all day. I also have to actually supervise/assist with their school work along with my two girls that do "school" and the baby. Needless to say, my brain is a little fried this afternoon.

I was able to get them all to lay down and at least rest for a while, so I've got a few minutes of peace, but it's definitely not what I'm used to. So, I'm drinking some coffee and surfing around FV trying to relax for a bit.

Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do with these kids for the week? I can't drive anywhere with them because our van only fits 7 and there are 7 kids plus me, so not enough seat belts. I'm wondering how practical it would be to try to walk to the park with all of them. The oldest is 12, so she helps out a lot, but my nephew has a real stubborn streak in him that causes him to be very defiant when he doesn't get his way.

Anyway, just wanted to share how my day was going.....

((((hugs)))) Bless you for being on hand to help out. If the park isn't that far away you could give it a shot. Maybe you could find something fun to do that also involves something they are learning about. My kids used to love watching the bugs out in the yard and then we would find out what kind of bugs it was they were watching.

    a structured day.

Write up what is going to happen at each hour.
    8:00 breakfast
8:30 wash up and nephew 1 clears the table, niece 1 loads the DW
    9:00 school time
    10 bathroom break
and on and on. Until you get to all hours of the day.

oh.. and bedtime is 8pm at grampa's house LOL!! right?
