    Default Update on DH's job...

I posted last week that I was totally freaking out because of everything going on in the airline industry.

DH's company made some announcements last week - they are delaying a lot of deliveries of new aircraft. Not great news, but at least they are being proactive and not going futher into debt. They released the new schedule for aircraft deliveries and instead of 10-13 per year over the next five years - they'll be accepting about 7-8 total over that same time period. After 2012 - deliveries will pick back up.

Also, a Wall Street analyst (can't remember his name, but he's been analyzing the airline industry for the last few decades....) predicts that there will be THREE large airlines after all of this nonsense is said and done. Two of them were Norhtwest & Delta (they'll probably merge, so that'll actually just be one airline). The third was DH's company.

So, while there are no guarantees in this crazy industry, it makes me feel a little better that his company is taking some precautions now and Wall Street seems to think we'll make it......

    Only time will tell....

That is some good news to relieve your mind a bit. I know though in this uncertain economy it is kind of scary. I'm glad they told them something so you are not just sitting on pins and needles.

DH flies Airbus - which are manufactured in France - does your husband's company supply to Airbus or just Boeing?

Hoping our situation doesn't effect yours too much!

That's really cool that they're thinking ahead before they have to start cutting jobs, and I hope it puts your mind at ease at least a little. Best of luck to you! I really hope things start looking up soon for everyone.

At least you got some more settling news. I think it's very important to concentrate on what you want to happen, not what you don't want.

Just found out this morning that my husband's company supplies parts for the airbus as well! He isn't too concerned about his job at the moment, but you never know what lies ahead. I just keep praying that things will be ok.

Airbus should be fine - afterall they just got a huge military contract from us!

We've gotten word from teh company that hours are going to be cut way back come this fall. So, DH is flying every minute he's legal for all summer. In theory I should be busy enough with the kids that I won't notice an absent husband.....
