yep, I've been to many a shower that just had cake and punch. You could always do cream cheese mints for cheap if you wanted something else. Molds come in the shape of booties and rattles, etc.

Are you prego and haven't told us Holly??

I think with warmer weather coming a fruit plate would be nice - but something you can cut yourself to save on cost. I don't eat much jello so not sure how popular that is - but the fruity stuff is always neat.
Best Wishes!

Thank you ladies.
No I'm not prego. Thanks for the laugh though Dianne
I'm hosting a baby shower tomorrow for my best friends DIL
They are expecting in July.
These kids have nothing (He works at McDonalds and she's not working so they are in need of everything.)
His mom is buying the cake and I think she's getting a fruit platter.
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't out of touch.
I have been to no baby showers in 19 years.

tbh i dont think saying that is fair, you can get a good wage from working there, i do. i work with lots of people who have what they want, and more. i just cant be doing with people thinking that because some people work at McD's too that they dont have anything/little money

I also worked at McDonalds and I'm sorry but paying rent, and other utilites and having a baby is going to be very tough with what he gets paid at McDonalds. ( Especially with gas prices
and her Dr appointments every week right now ).
( not to mention diapers and formula etc..)
I am going to get them cloth diapers but guarantee her mom will have a fit, and tell her not to use them ( and if mommy says no she won't )
I did get her a diaper cake that no one knows about to put in the middle of the gift table.

Also, another great help is to sign up for all the baby clubs at the local super markets. She'll get lots of coupons and some freebies. If she can get to the local library, she can use the computer there to sign up at all the baby sites 9pampers.com, huggies.com, enfamil, luvs, gerber, beechnut, etc., and they'll mail her tons of coupons and samples. And what's great is she can start registering now. Also remind her about WIC. Another big help she can start now too!
