Question TV - don't watch much?

anyone else out there that simply doesnt watch tv?!

it's wonderfully quiet during the day when i'm home. sometimes if I feel "lonely" I put on some music...

but there's really nothing on tv I really watch.

Sure, sometimes I'm in the room when the guys are watching tv... doesnt mean I'm watching it, I'm just in the room (reading, knitting, crocheting, making to-do lists, etc.).

I would be just fine if I had no tv at all!

    anyone else like this?

I don't watch much tv either. I enjoy watching a movie once in a while, I avoid the news other then to catch the weather. At times I enjoy watching wife swap or supernanny. Wife swap should really have an extreme frugal person on with a family that spends alot and is in major debt, that could be an interesting episode.
My dh is a major couch potatoe when he is home he is glued to the tv. Sometimes watching it and other times playing video games.

If I were home during the day, I wouldn't watch TV. If I wanted to watch something, I guess I would watch a movie. Usually if I'm at home I listen to music. There are only a few shows I care for and they're usually on late at night.

I could do without cable completely (I'd miss HGTV, but I'd survive!!), but I couldn't do without watching DVDs. I love movies and will watch some movies over and over again, while doing something else like cleaning or crafting. We have a portable DVD player that I tote around the house with me...it keeps my mind occupied while I do chores I hate like dishes or laundry!!

We haven't subscribed to cable in over 10 years and we don't have an antenna. Honestly, I don't know where I'd find the time to watch it.

The only show I watch on tv is ghosthunters. I could easily live without a tv but DH watches it all the time.

we watch so little tv, we could almost do without cable. the only problem is we only watch channels on basic/standard cable...

    NESN (DH & DS)
Bravo (LOVE Top Chef & Project Runway)
    Disney
    Nickelodeon
food network (sometimes but not often)
Golf channel (that's for my dh)
    hgtv (sometimes)
    TLC (love dirty jobs)
    E (for Talk Soup)
    PBS Boston & Providence
Monday nights on NBC or CBS (not sure what it is)
    how I met your mother
    big bang theory
    2 1/2 men
    rules of engagement
Otherwise we are Wii'ing, outside or listening to music.

My brother calls the TV "the jumping box" and I would agree with him as it has to much stimuli. I do not know how people watch it at night and then go to sleep peacefully. Saying that I have not turned on the TV since last September (2007) and it was only on then because my sister was visiting and she could not miss her shows. Prior to September (2007) it had not been turned on for over a year. I don't enjoy movies so it just never gets turned on. I listen to the radio or sermons on CD's/cassette tapes. (Yes, I am one of the few people in the world who has cassette tapes) I watched cable when I went on vacation last year and I loved HGTV but not enough to get cable for myself. I have never had cable and I doubt that I ever will have it. I catch the weather on the radio and the internet.

We cancelled cable months ago since the only person watching much TV was our daughter and IMHO a six year old has better things to do than wasting her mind on Disney channel. I don't miss it. My husband does use a big satellite dish to receive 'free air' channels so he can get his favorite non-communist-run Mandarin language station, but he only has that on for an hour or so a day. Sometimes around dinner we flip to 'Russia Today' in English, LOL to watch the news.

I do miss things like Animal Planet and Discovery which I would occasionally watch, but not enough to pay over $40 a month. If and when I talk my husband into homeschooling, I might get cable back for the educational channels, though it wouldn't be a priority.

I watch LOST and the evening news and that's about it. I might turn on the food network if I'm in the kitchen for an extended period of time, but otherwise I prefer playing with my son, reading a book or being on the internet most of the time!

I haven't had a tv in years. When would I watch it, even if I were interested? Don't miss it at all. I have lots of computer time at work so I am trying to phase that out to some degree too. I'd rather read, work my jigsaws, listen to music.

I did without cable for 10 years, only had rabbit ears but since last fall I've had satellite tv and I absolutely love TCM. I'm a real old movie buff, have been all my life, and this is heaven for me. I just wish there was some way to subscribe to just TCM without having to get all the other stuff I don't watch.

There are 5 tv's in this house and 3 are usually going most of the time if everyone is home. I don't watch much at all. If I'm here alone I don't even turn it on. I could probably do without it. I do like HGTV and an occasional movie.

My husband has the tv turned to Sponge Bob right now. Good gracious. LOL

I don't watch much tv. I do tape Y&R everyday.......I've been watching it since I was in college so it is a habit!! My guys love Ghosthunters, Deadliest Catch and a few others like that and I might be in the same room with them but I don't really watch! Right now I do try to catch Top Chef when it is on

I don't watch it either. I do like ghosthunters , but other than that nothing. I couldn't even tell you when a show is on.... my mom and sisters think I'm nuts - they just can't believe we don't have Tivo. DH on the other hand can watch it all day and night if he's not out doing something. He works nights and as soon as he leaves at 4pm I turn the tv off. I just get an instant calming feeling - like, 'aaahhhh'. If we didn't have a tv I wouldn't miss it at all.
