Questions on Home Scan
Hey everyone! I just got a call that I have been approved to be a part of Home Scan!! I'm really excited about it.
I know some of you either are or have been a part of this. Can you tell me how it's going with you? Do you scan every purchase? Only certain ones? How often do you scan? Any technical problems? Do you scan the barcode on the product or on the receipt? Do you get much or any compensation?
Thanks in advance for your answers. I should be getting my scanner in 3-4 weeks.Spiritual:

Hi!
I'm a new Home Scanner too (you do mean Nielson right?) - I have only had my scanner for about a week and a half, but I can tell you what I've done so far.
I think it's fun to scan stuff! I do scan every purchase as soon as I bring it in the house (so I won't forget). I put all groceries or supplies on the kitchen table and have my receipt right there to put the prices or sales, coupon amount, etc. in. I scan everything that has a bar code on it. I do not scan the bar code on the receipt. You will need to put the total of your purchases from your receipt into the scanner. I have had no problems with downloading the software to my PC, using the scanner, or transmitting my info weekly. The how-to book they send with your scanner is wonderful - It has lots of info and walks you through step by step with photos of how to scan your purchases and transmit them in.
When you transmit your info once a week on time, you earn points (you also earn points for surveys and I'm not sure what all else), which can be redeemed for some cool stuff. You get bonus points if you transmit your info in every week of the month too! There are also a bunch of cash and prize sweeps you earn entries for that are weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
Good Luck!! Hope you enjoy scanning - I'll be happy to try to help if you have any more questions!
Blessings,
-

DH got in, and we ended up quitting a few months later because of the hassle. It does really force you to keep track of spending (good eye opener, I'll give it that much) but to actually remember and scan groceries, clothes, gas, take-out - it even asks for if I buy a candy bar from the vending machine at work, and I'm not saving my candy bar wrappers to take home and scan.
The biggest hurdle for us was getting used to how to scan multipack (we shop at BJ's for a lot of things) and how to handle the coupons and deals. After you get used to that, scanning is easier. I think it's definitely worth it for some people, we just didn't like the hassle.
I also did find that it wouldn't accept UPC's from Bath & Body Works for some reason. I get a bunch of stuff from them and even typing it in wouldn't work.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

I did it for about 2 1/2 years or so, I thought it was fairly easy. I got sick and didn't scan for quite some time, which is why I quit. I earned enough points at the end to get

I love all the products I got! I carry the flashlight in my purse so when I walk up my loooooong driveway from my friends at night, no more stumbling!
That coffee set is the bomb! When I only want 1 cup, it is just perfect.
The mixing, storage bowls are worth their weight in gold. Everything I earned was well worth all the scanning I did. I did scan most all purchases every week. As I emptied my grocery bags, I scanned each item, that way if it was out of the bag(s) I knew it had been scanned. Little time consuming but it is only dh and I, I don't have children vying for my time too, definitely makes things easier.
Have fun, and let us know how you like it.
