Talking Does anyone have any "neat" things about where they live?

OK - I'm sitting here in my "semi" bad neighborhood duplex and I just have to share this...
A little background - I live semi-rural. There is a dirt trail right by my duplex that the kids use to walk to school (and the drunks use to walk home from the bar).
Anyway, every day when I'm coming home from work I see this guy on a horse going to the senior home. He's an older gentleman probably in his 50's, definately cowboy.
Anyway, he just went by my window. I don't know his story, but I assume his parents are at the home and he brings the horse by every day to see the people there. Even in the snow or rain!
Sometimes I really do LOVE people. Every time I see this guy and his horse, it brings a smile to my face, because I know he's going to bring smiles to all of those folks!
Anyone else have something that tugs at your heart?

I don't know if this is what you mean really
but my hometown is FAMOUS for a semi-greek chili recipe that contains no beans or chunk beef but has chocolate in it, it's served over spaghetti with cheese on top, we call it a three way
    but it's neat!
we also have a hometown ice cream distributor/ bakery that was featured on oprah a while back as the best ice cream in the world, and it is!

Not much to report as "neat" here in Muncie, Indiana. Jim Davis, the creator and cartoonist of Garfield lives just outside of town. David Letterman went to college here at Ball State University. Other than factory closings, high unemployment, and enrollment at the schools on the deep decline, Muncie is pretty great! My hubby is laid off from Borg Warner (12 weeks now) and I work in the school system and we are laying off teachers right and left. If it weren't for our family here, we would leave. Both of our mothers and my father are here and not in great health. We just keep trying to keep up.

No beans or beef? I've heard of chocolate in Mexican cooking so that doesn't sound too weird... What's in it besides chocolate?
I think I've seen a travel show that had chili over spahgetti, but I don't remember chocolate...

I live in a medium sized mid western city and we are very proud of our architecture here. Our city is ranked 6th in the nation for architural innovation and design. Here is a link... http://www.columbus.in.us/listings/index.cfm?catId=336
The best thing about my city though is that the kindest, friendliest people live here.

Momishem, I love Muncie. Lots of good college memories there!

My town population 1200 is known for it's 4th of July celebration in the city park on the square. It's been going on since the turn of the last century. We have a carnival, flea markets, music shows ,parade, contests such as cake walk, greased pig catching. It starts on the 2nd to the 4th and ends with a fire works display at the football field. My aunt used to go to St.Joseph every year to get a new dress for it so that no other woman would have one like hers.People take lawn chairs sit in shade or walk around and visit with people you know.WE also since 1985 have a Fathers Day classic car show on the square ,the square is roped off and the cars are parked all around it and flea markets are set up in the park.

Nothing fancy here except every August we have Musikfest which is only about 4 miles from my home (We usually walk there) we also have MayFair here another great artist type fair where the artists makes stuff, set up their tents and sell it.

We also have Dorney Park nearby, Philadelphia zoo (about 45 min.), Hershey Park and various other attractions. We also have the crayola factory.

We now have multiple red lights. When I was a little girl we only had one traffic light in the whole town. Yup we are just booming here.

I have 4 lakes within walking distance and one of them I can see from nearly every window except the ones on the back of the house. Our county is also home to the biggest amusement park in Michigan...Michigan's Adventure anyone? We also host Summer Celebration every year and we now host Bike Time. We have our own hockey team (Muskegon Fury) and for the second year an indoor football team (Muskegon Thunder)....Muskegon is also known as the "Beer Tent Capital of the World" by its residents...you can usually find a beer tent somewhere during the Summer months due to all the various festivals.
