    Default Feeling Sad

I don't mean to complain or put anyone's religion down but here's my story. My grandmother passed away. She was a Jehovah's Witness. That is fine, I was raised one but when I became an adult I got out of it. Let's just say it wasn't easy leaving. My cousin gave her memorial "talk" or sermon. It was awful. If you would have missed the first 5 minutes of the "talk" you wouldn't have known it was about my grandmother who passed away. Very little was said about her and what a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was. He also called her Katherine. That is her name but she always went by Kay. The talk was all about what the JW's believe in and how you too can live forever on earth. It was just disappointing. I don't feel any one religion is better than the other. We all need to coexist. I shouldn't expect my family to feel the same. I miss my grandmother already. She was a great person.

I'm so sorry. Losing a beloved Grammie is hard.....I know that firsthand. The disappointment of the memorial service didn't help. It's ok to feel sad.

I'm so sorry for your loss and your disappointment with the memorial service. Perhaps, just as a catharsis, you can write your own memorial on paper. Just what you would've said about her, if given a chance, and how much she meant to you. How wonderful for you that you were able to have such a special woman in your life.

I too am sorry for your loss and you dissapointment in the service. I agree with Michelle, perhaps if you express your feelings for you grandmother on paper it will help. It can be private just between you and her or perhaps someday you may want to place it in a local paper on a special occasion. Maybe just planting a couple of flowers that she really loved could help.

I'm so sorry to hear of you lost. And I also know how it feels to lose the opportunity to grieve in your own way. Don't let the family tell you how to grieve. Have your own memorial your own way.
