How nice were they?
I had to order my groceries online yesterday. I hate doing this since it cost me $10 for them to pick my order and load into my car. Anyway, I had to because i don't have 1 minute over the next 6 days to get to the store and I was in dire need of milk, lunch items etc... So, I place my order and keep it very small. Even with the $10 order fee, I only went over my weekly budget by $2. Anyway, the way it works is you go, park in the designated spot, they come out and take your payment, you pop the trunk, they put your bags in and you're done (was nice yesterday considering it was pouring also). I always check my receipt while waiting and it was correct, right prices, right amount, right items. So I get home and unpack and find a $6 pound of deli american cheese (I always buy 1 16 slice pack of cheese for $1.50 each week) I didn't order, one 1/4 pound deli turkey for $3.49 (also didn't order) and I had order 5 packs of frozen steam in bag veggies for $5. They gave me 10 and didn't charge me for the other 5. I got $14.49 in groceries I didn't order OR get charged for. So I call them. I live 25 mins. from the store. They tell me since it's their mistake, keep them. It would cost me more in gas to return them. So all in all I made out big time on the order.

Wow...that is a very nice gesture....first that you called them to let them know and second that since it was their mistake to just keep it. I'm sure the store wouldn't expect anyone to return stuff that was their mistake so consider it a "stockpile". They will definately keep your business with that kind of service.

I am glad to hear that you called to let them know about their mistake. That was a wonderful gesture on your part and a wonderful gesture on their part because they accepted their mistake and let you keep the extra items.

I agree that is great that you called but even better you got to keep. Even had you needed to return them I'm sure the store would have probably just trashed them.

What a nice surprise for you! I think generally, stores can't resell items after they've left the store, so it's nice that instead of wasting, they let you keep them.

It was a very nice gesture by you to call and let them know. And yes, they would have had to trash any perishable item since they can't take the liability of its freshness anymore. Congratulations on that little blessing.

That really was nice. I hope no one got into trouble for making that mistake. But you were great to call them. Kuddos to you!

That is great, there is nothing wrong with getting free food. Plus, it was there mistake, so you should get to keep them. That should really help with the $2, you went over on your budget!!!!
