Cool Back to School Supplies...yes already!

An order form came home from school yesterday... for those 'busy parents who hate to do back to school supply shopping' we can now buy them from a company that has weaseled it's way...

Things 'teacher tailored' for DD's second grade class...

    4 - 1.23oz Washable Glue Sticks
    1 - Fabric Pencil Case, 10"x6" 3-hole w/grommets
    1 - Pencil/Crayon Sharpener
    24 - All wood #2 pencils
    2 - 2 Pocket Folders
    3 - Tissue Boxes, Hypo-Allergenic,160ct
    2 - Paper Towels, 2-ply, 84 sheets
    1 - Crayola Crayon 8 count
    1 - Index Cards, 100 count, ruled
    1 - Index Card Box
    1 *Bonus Pack* 1 magnet, 10 envelopes, 5"x8" notepad, 40 personalized labels

Now... how much will this magic box of goodies cost the 'busy parents'???
    ....

    $24.18!!!!

Somehow I see me getting everything on my own...

You got a school supplies list already? Didn't school just let out for the summer?

Yes & No on the list... we got an order form...
No on the school letting out... they don't even get out until the 13th!

I am sure someone will be happy paying $25 for that meager list... but I am not one of them

That is absolutely pitiful! Good for you in refusing to go along with that nonsense.

I've never understood why someone would buy those boxes, they are so expensive! I go to the Staples 1 cent sale every year and their weekly back to school sales and stock up for way less.

I've always got a supply in the cupboard, ready for the following year. I buy things throughout the year as they are on sale.

Wow, that is insane, but you know there will be parents that just can't be bothered with shopping and will pay for it.

That's crazy!! You can do it for much less!! We get supply lists for next year in the last report card, so parents can look for sales during the summer.

We got our list for next year on the back of the last monthly newsletter the principal sends out.
I am also one who stocks up on supplies throughout the year. You have to love those 10 cent boxes of crayons.

Psh! Just thinking back to last year's sales, I could get all that stuff for under $10!!!

Staples always has 12ct pencils for 25c each, pencil sharpeners 20c each, folders 10c each, etc. I think the most expensive thing on the list would be the index card holder and still less than $2 bought from a store.

Well, count me as one of the parents who can't be bothered to shop. Our kids' Catholic school sent home one of the same forms, but the lists were much longer and the price was not much more than $25. Plus we get a $5 gift card from Target for each box ordered.

I am a busy SAHM with 4 kids ages 10 and under (with lots of stuff on my plate right now and not much time). I honestly don't have time to run around looking for school supplies, especially with gas prices as they are now. If I see a good deal on something (like 10 cent crayons) I will get them, but I don't go shopping very often. I had a devil of a time last year finding all the stuff needed for school and I started in July.

Just because I take advantage of stuff like this from time to time doesn't make me lazy or not able to be bothered (I'm volunteering over 15 hours at Vacation Bible School next week, for goodness sake). It just means I will be making less trips to the store this summer and the supplies are there the first day of school.

    Flame suit on and ready...

Wow, I'm not seeing how they can possibly justify that expense! Even if you dared to pay full price for those items, it couldn't come to that amount.
