I just realized I didn't post a "new here"
I am a 49 year old almost divorced mom to 2 boys.
I live in Canada and got possession of our lake place the other day, but haven't moved there yet. My plans are to move there and commute to work. I am extremely dumb because of the price of gas, but it is my refuge. My ex was/is a very controlling person who liked to give me the silent treatment for months at a time, so I have become used to my own company. lol
I am dead broke right now, but that will change soon. I have a good/almost great job with a new promotion and I pay child support for my one son who goes to university but lives with his dad for the time being.
I love frugality and simple living and a self-sustaining lifestyle. My place I am moving to has no electricity or running water and will be off the grid until October. At the end of the month I won't even have internet access except at work and friends and the library.
I have learned a lot already from this site, mostly lurking.
Just happy I found this place.

Thanks all for the wonderful welcome!
I have vacationed there for 2 weeks at a time without electricity for about 3 years or so. It isn't that bad, you just have to be organized. Go to bed when it gets dark and wake up when it's light.
The great thing about it is, when I get there after work, I really feel like I am on vacation for that evening anyways. It's so quiet and I read and knit and listen to my wind up radio.
I cook on the outdoor firepit or the coleman stove if it's raining. And I eat very simply.
I am going to be like a sponge till my internet ends in a few weeks and try and absorb everything I can from here. I will be able to come on from work the odd time when I;'m not screaming busy.
