What about Heaven?
If you believe in Heaven, I have a question for you.
What do you think we will be doing in Heaven. You know, after all the singing, eating and rejoicing?
(This post is in no way tring to start a heated debate. I truly only want believers to respond. I have grown up in church and am always interested in people's answer to this question.)Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

Things I think we do in heaven--I have no idea.
Things I HOPE we do in heaven--
1. Knit or quilt (or whatever you love) WITHOUT being interrupted to do something like cook.
2. Get to eat any wonderful food and be nice and slim.
3. See all of our loved ones who have gone before us--including animals and pets.
4. I hope there is nature in heaven. The kind of nature (outdoors) we are used to on earth.______

We've been talking about heaven a lot in my home lately. Our pastor and his 13 yr. old son were killed in a plane accident on May 12 and we are still reeling. Mandisa (of American Idol) had a concert at our church earlier this month and sang a new song that she hadn't recorded yet on the subject of heaven. I've googled forever to find the lyrics but it spoke of how beautiful and peaceful it was and if we knew how much our loved ones liked being there that we wouldn't cry for them so much. For people trying to heal, it was a blessing.
DH and I were talking about heaven this weekend. I've been thinking about that little feeling of euphoria I get when visiting certain places. This certain happy giddiness when I walk through MainStreet at the Magic Kingdom when I haven't been in a while or the way I feel right before they announce the Bucs at the first home game of football season and the stadium is electric.
I expect to feel the same way in heaven, but without feeling the sticker shock of Disney's beverages or seeing my football team stink up the field. I believe we'll be happy but who knows what we'll be doing. It's a great question and it will be interesting to see what everyone's thoughts are.Erika

This is a wonderful question. I will see all my family and friends who have passed on before me. ANYTHING that makes me smile!
My thoughts always focus on what we will NOT be able to do in heaven. I know some people who think you can SEE earth and what is going on with the folks you left behind. I don't think so. Seems like that would bring sadness, especially when you see your loved ones doing something they shouldn't, or getting hurt, or being sick and suffering. But, then these thoughts bring to mind, guardian angels. I don't know. I get confused when I start thinking about it all.
I am wondering what others think as well. Good topic!!

Oh what a great question! I think that we will do all of the things that we had a gift for doing here but could never find the time to do them. I think that we will all experience the true meaning of unconditional non judgemental love........pure love! I think that we will live in eternal glory! I have alway's said that our true home is Heaven!

I think that we will be worshiping our King Jesus with song and the love will be beyond our imagination...I believe everything that we love will be their, family, friends, pets, all that gives us joy!!!

I think also that we will be able to spend wonderful time with our family and friends that we have missed over the years. I am hoping that we can cook and just have wonderful picnics under the trees/stars.
I always get excited thinking about all the awesome minds that have went on before us. I can't wait to ask the bibilical figures what is was like knowing Jesus back then and asking Mary how it felt to give birth to the Son of God.
I wonder if we will live on farms or in a city like setting. I also wonder if everyone will have their own home or if we would live like large families (several people in one home).Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

I think we will know those loved ones (human and animals) who are there before us, but the joy of being with them will be nothing compared to the joy we will feel being with Jesus and feeling His love for us. I think that incredible, all-encompassing joy will never weaken, and we will spend our time worshipping Him.

As long as I'm with my precious Lord and Savior it doesn't matter what I'll be doing. I could just sit at His feet and listen to him forever and ever.

I suppose we leave our bodies behind and become part of "the light". I hope consciousness remains, but all pain and physical needs, hunger etc., are gone. We get to observe our loved ones on Earth, but with a heightened perspective of time and space and understanding, so it would not be with fear or sadness, but with knowing the bigger picture of things.

You said this so beautifully and it's what I have been thinking myself lately about heaven. I lost my Grandpa 2 years ago and my Grandmother 1 year ago. I have seen my grandpa and my grandmother in dreams several times. Sometimes together, sometimes on their own. Over the years I have also had dreams of pets that have passed on. A student I taught died in a fire right after school let out 6 years ago and I dreamed about him once before too.
I think that we are visited in our dreams by our loved ones who have passed and that they are on a much higher level of consciousness and understanding than we can begin to imagine. I'm thinking it's an energy like light or wind. I think they watch over us as our guardian angels, maybe bringing comfort, support, or helping us connect here on earth with people that will help us to grow and become the best possible version of ourselves.
Sometimes I like to think that this state of "energy" is only temporary and that we will all come back again someday. That we will be born back into the physical world. We won't remember we were here before, but there will be things we are drawn to and places that touch our souls (that part will remember this world).

I sure hope we are singing and praising.
I wanted to post this on here somewhere but had no idea where. This seems like a good thread for it.

Great Question!
The Bible seems rather silent on many details of eternal life in Heaven. We know that we are promised new bodies, but what they will be like or be capable of is a mystery. I'm fairly sure that we will recognize each other, but former relationships are just that; I don't believe that we will be husband and wife, etc. Some descriptions are given of Heaven in Scripture, but not enough that I can picture the environment. Probably it is just as well. My feeble imagination could not even begin to understand the glory of Heaven. And as to what we will be doing: my belief is that our chief purpose will be to glorify God and praise Him. Everything else that I deem important in this life will not be worth that much in the next. What remains is the glory and perfection of God and that is worthy of praise. Finally, will I be able to see my loved ones still on earth? I'm not sure. Part of Scripture talks about how we on earth are surrounded by "a cloud of witnesses", which many interpret as being those who have gone on. Yet another part of Scripture says there will be no more pain, no tears, no sorrow. I would think that looking back on some things on earth would certainly give me sorrow.
But.... I am not a theologian. I'm a born again Christian who truly believes that Heaven will be far greater than anything I can imagine. Yet, I ponder the question.Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.
