    Default Son & driving...

Some of you know my son (the one who lives with us) has a TBI and was trying to get into the "On the Road" program so he could try to get his driver's license back. Well he got a phone call the other day & his neuro won't sign the release granting permission. My son is very upset & depressed. I knew the chances were slim to none that he would be able to do this, right now. But, my heart is breaking for him.

He has come such a long way over the past several years, but for some reason he thinks his entire world would be different if only he could drive.

Mombottoo,my thought`s are with both of you. I` know this has upset him. But driving isn`t every thing . but young people always look at it that way.
He has acomplished so much . so sorry about this let down for him.

I'm sorry he isn't going to get to drive. It may take him a while to get over the disappointment but hopefully he will.

I knew he wasn't ready, but due to mitigating factors sometimes I have to let him find out the hard way...since he has a problem with self observation.

It's just hard sometimes, but we just keep on, keeping on. I'm glad the doctor had the guts to say "no" (many don't)...the one thing I am going to do is talk to my son's psychologist and tell him to stop putting ideas into the boy's head...and to stop encouraging him to do outlandish things that he is not emotionally and/or physically capable of doing at this point.

He may never be able to drive again and that's just the way it is. There are worse things than never being able to drive again...at least that's the way I feel.
