most games you can play at sleepovers don't usually involve much 'stuff'

There is the blindfolded pj relay race...
    the sneaker quest
    make-up marathon

then of course, there is the usual painting nails etc
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I think the best place for party ideas would probably be the celebrations forum

Does the party have a theme other than a surprise party? How many guests will there be?

    What is the sneaker quest?

Okay! How do I do them. LOL.

It's a sleepover with 10 girls coming. No surprise involved.

one thing that i like to do for sleepovers is get out the "princess" movies from disney. then let the girls dress up like princesses.
old dd does this with the younger ones when they have sleepover's.

let them help you make cookies or cupcakes and let them decorate them

blindfolded pj relay race -- the girls are split into teams and they take turns being blindfolded... they have to get their pj's on correctly over their clothes... first team to have all their members dressed correctly wins

the sneaker quest -- (teams) all the sneakers are put in a pile, along with 'other peoples shoes' (you want to make it harder) and the girls have to find their own shoes and make a circle, the person on their left puts their sneakers on them, the person on the right ties/fastens them.

    make-up marathon

then of course, there is the usual painting nails etc

there is also treasure hunts, baking, sing-alongs, any Disney movie ever made if it is nice outside, there is always hide & seek at night, and 'midnight tag'

I would say to go with what your dd likes to do. For example, my 8 yr old dd would hate a princess party, painting nails, etc. She's a tomboy and wouldn't be into that sort of thing at all. That's why I asked what the theme is (if there is one). Lauren's theme would be army or something similar, and I would plan games around that theme.

    I hope that made sense!

Thank you!!! You are a wealth of information. The shoe one probably won't work, because down here in Florida, no one wears sneakers, only flip flops.

Will definitely be doing the pj one!

    So far, I have them:
Painting their own pillowcases with fabric paint
    doing nails
    pj race
    we are getting a movie

Yeah, there is no theme. Just a girly kind of party. The pillowcases they make will be their favor to take home, along with some prizes.

You could also have them go on a scavenger or treasure hunt for different items to find or providing clues on paper to find the hidden stars or whatever you want to hide. Our kids put about 10 - 20 clues on paper and then they have those papers hidden around the house saying "congratulations you find clue #3, etc....

This is a game that usually gets a lot of laughs.

    1. Split the girls up into 2 teams.
    2. Tie a clothes pin to a long piece of yarn or string.
    3. Each team stands side by side (shoulder to shoulder)
    4. Starting at one end of each line, feed the string up the first person's pant leg and then shirt, coming out at the neck and do the opposite to the next person in line. Continue down the line.
    5. The team that finishes first is the winner.

    I hope this makes sense.

My DD is having her 8th birthday party next Friday. One of the games we are doing is musical chairs but with music from Hanna Montana and High School Musical. We are also doing a talent show. They have one hour to plan it. I'm setting out hula hoops, jump ropes, a karaoke machine, etc and letting them have at it. I bought little "award" ribbons for each one of them at the dollar store. Heck, even I'm excited about it!
