Pool Membership
Been trying to catch up on reading all the threads, and have noticed a few people talking about (myself included) going to the pools.
Here my town offers a family pool membership to 4 different pools for $50.00 for the summer. Out of the 4 pools, 2 of them are super nice with water slides and tube slides. I feel this is a great bargain, and we get our money's worth.
But I do know when we lived in Minnesota, a family pool membership was in the hundreds...just curious as to what other places are like and how much they charge, and do you feel it's worth it?"We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

For me and the kids, it is $115. If we add DH, it is another $59!
And that is only for one pool.
We decided to forgo the pass this year to save money. We get our money's worth if we buy the pass (it is $11/day for the three of us). Instead this year, I went out and bought a sprinkler for $5 that I needed for my garden anyways. The kid's play in it a couple of times a week. Our water bill will be higher for the summer, but since they aren't using the sprinkler a ton, I don't think they will use $115 worth of water!

I'm jealous!!!
We pay $295 every year for our pool membership. It's just one pool that gets WAY crowded and there is no shade anywhere to be found. However...that being said, my kids love it. They meet up with their little friends there and have a blast all day long. I pack up our lunch, snacks, toys, etc and make a day of it a couple of times a week. Is it frugal? No. Does it save my sanity at times. Yes, therefore it is priceless!

I'm envious too. The only pool memberships I have access to are at the Y.

Ours are free for city residents. There are four different pools. I don't think any of them have tubes or water slides though. Just pools, diving boards, & kiddie sections. I'll take it for free though

The family membership to our community pool is $275 if you sign up before June 1st, $350 if you sign up after June 1st. Needless to say, we signed up before June 1st.
It's always a discussion about whether or not to join the pool as we can only go on the weekends, but the truth is, the kids love it and we really enjoy it as well, even if it is only 2 days a week.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I mentioned this in another thread, too. We are thinking about joining a club, I think it's around $130 for the year. They have 2 pools and lots of other stuff.

We belong to a private swim club and the first year was the most expensive, around $700. Each year after that it is $330.00. If we choose not to join we would get $200 of that original fee back. There are several private pools in our area, but this one is the nicest and closest to our house. Even if it is a little expensive, when we break it down by how many times the 4 of use it, it really costs very little. Much less expensive then having our own pool like we did a few years ago. I go to water aerobics three days a week and I just love it!

No community pool here. I have one in my backyard, as do many of my neighbors.
We do not have central air, so I spend a lot of time in the pool.

The local schools do open swim for the kids for a couple bucks. There is a free pool at one of the parks, but it is about 40 miles from here. The hotel offers membership to their pool, which is indoor so year round for about $200 per family. I've never bought it. My son goes alot with his summer program, and my mom has a pool, so we can swim there.
