If all jobs were equal....
Just for fun I was wondering ....
If no matter what job you had the hours, benefits, pay, ect were the same, and you were instantly granted the knowledge to do the job, what would you be when you grew up?
I would love to work with horses. I think I could be on horseback all day long and never grow tired of it. I only get to go about once a year currently.
Working in a library or bookstore also holds great appeal when I'm stessed but I think that would bore me once I calmed down. It would definately be my "I need a break position"
All things being equal I would probably go back to working with abused and neglected children for awhile as well. I'd need a break from this every few years as it is an extreme emotional drain. Then I could pop into one of the other calming positions for awhile and switch back to this once I rebalanced myself.
My more cerebral choice would be teaching at a college level. This is the only one of the four I think I could do and not have to ever switch out of as well. Doesn't matter if your body gives you can teach in a wheel chair. If your stressed you teach by a different method that day than a more engaging one if your not. The people would be constantly changing and new information constsntly available in a university setting.
A lot of people I know would look at some of these choices and say wouldn't you want more authority, do something more important, like find cures for diseases. I think I all jobs are important and as long as they speak to your soul that's what matters most.

Does this include "Mommy" jobs too???

If it's only for 'outside' jobs... I would work in the baby room of the daycare again
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I'm really fortunate to have a job I enjoy and find satisfying (though I wouldn't volunteer to do it for free
).
If you could wave a magic wand and give me all the skills I'd need, I've always thought it would be fun to be a translator at the UN or an English as a second language teacher or run a shoe store or book store, be an elementary school teacher or one of those people who teach executive seminars on becoming better leaders/managers. It would be interesting to try out being a magazine or tv news editor. I'd love to be the host of a travel show -- something like Anthony Bouridine's (sp?) "No Reservations". Charter boat captain might be fun too.
When I retire and (hopefully) don't need to work, I think I'd like to work part time in a day care or pre-school or volunteer for an "after school" program or the parks department or docent at a museum.

The first thing that comes to mind is working in a zoo nursery, taking care of orphaned animal babies.

Find a cure for all illnesses.
Wait! I already did that!
Okay- I want the means to bring it out.
Wait! I already did. Darn it- being blocked by those with more money and lots to lose.
All right then, I want to be in a position to influence everyone's decision to make the necessary changes to reverse and prevent illness.
I want to teach every single person. I want to touch the lives of millions.
Yeah.. that's what I want.
