    Smile Back from the wedding!

    We had lots of fun!

Friday morning we left bright and early at about 4:30am. I had planned on leaving at 4, but when the time actually comes, you are not as quick to get ready as you thought you would be! The reason we left so early was because we had to drive through Los Angeles, and if we left later we would get stuck in the morning Rush Hour. There were lots of cars out at 5:30 in LA, but the drive was smooth.

DH decided to take the 99 freeway up, instead of the 5. There are a lot more towns along the 99, and since we have a small child, he wanted to make sure we would have places to stop for diaper changes, etc.

We stopped in Bakersfield for gas, and a diaper change, and went back on our way. I kept seeing these signs for Pistachio Valley and I really wanted some Pistachios. DH said no, because DS had fallen back asleep, so I resigned. Then, DH got pulled over and DS woke up. Yes, he got a speeding ticket. He was very upset about because it's been 9 years since he's gotten a ticket! But I got to stop and I got garlic flavored pistachios, DELICIOUS!

We made it into Auburn at about noon. We went to see if we could check in early, but the room wasn't ready. I really just wanted to get into some Air Conditioning and take a shower. It was SO HOT. So to waste time we explored the city of Auburn. We found Old Town Auburn and walked around. It's not very big, but so cute! We got back to the motel at 1:30 and they let us check in. Then we blasted the A/C, took a nap until about 3:40 and got ready for the wedding.

Ahh, the wedding. It was in the town of Foresthill. Just about a 20 minute drive into the mountains from where we were staying. It was at a cute little B&B called Monte Verde Inn. There was probably about 70 people maximum. We did end up just getting a card and a $25 gift card. The gift table was covered in huge wrapped gifts and I just layed our card down on there. It looked so sad sitting all by itself! The ceremony was short and to the point (Just how I like them!) DS was acting up so DH had to take him away so I could watch.

My family was so happy to see me and to meet my DH and DS. My Aunt and Uncle even went so far as to give us a check for $100 that they sent out when DS was born, but it never made it here. They really wanted us to have it. So that was a little bonus. DH was really happy about that. My cousin, when we finally got to talk to him, was so excited and happy that we could make it. And his wife was so nice. Turns out she is from the same town as DH and went to the same middle school as him! She also went to high school with a lot of his friends. Small world!!

We ended up having to leave after the dancing started. It was about 10pm and DS was just done. My cousin promised that when they came down this way to see his wife's family they would see us too. That's one of the things I was hoping for by going to the wedding. I want to be able to see family more often.

The next day we went and visited DH's friends in Sacramento. The wife is having a baby in October! We didn't even know! We hung out for about 3 hours, and then we had to start heading back home. We got home safely at about 11:30pm last night. All in all it was a nice little trip.

Sounds like a great time! I think you planned it out perfectly. Glad you had fun and rekindled things with family. And what a nice bonus with the $100 to help defray costs.
