Default Just Call Us Wild Kingdom

I have always wanted to live in the country and raise my kids there. However, we're here in North Jersey, about 45 minutes outside of NYC, which is NOT country.

Yet, our town is a small, little suburbia, and we live on top of the mountain in the town, and we are in a secluded part of town. Our backyard is woods, and we have a stream running through our property.

The kids and I just spent the past 20 minutes looking out of our picture window in the living room watching a parade of nature go by. In those 20 minutes, we saw:

    3 deer
17 chipmunks (could have been less, but they kept popping up and out of the holes they've dug throughout our yard)
    1 rabbit
    3 wild turkeys
    7 squirrels
    1 fox

The kids loved it, and so did I. Like my own little piece of the country here in suburbia.

Wow, that is alot of wildlife! What a gift you are giving your kids to be thrilled and filled with the wonder of nature. It's the ultimate in frugal entertainment.

Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

This is really what we're looking for in a house. We either want a HUGE backyard if it's in town, or we want a few acres. I would love for the kids to have plenty of space to play plus still have room for me to have a small garden.

Wow! We're on the edge of a city in what was a cornfield just about five years ago. Sometimes we get deer or rabbits, but that's about it. I'd love to have a view like yours!
