Stark Raving Flaming FURIOUS.....
OMG - IF I DON'T VENT ABOUT THIS I'M GOING TO EXPLODE!!!!!
I posted the other day about how frustrated I was with the real estate market. Our realtor's incompetence led us to complain to her broker and he said all of the right things: "I want to make this right for you, I'm sorry this happened, I'll take your listing personally to make sure it gets done right", etc.....
We met with him on Thursday - that same day we dropped our price by $20K (we had already dropped it $10K a few weeks prior). I was shocked (and frustrated) that with such a drastic price drop that we didn't have any calls/showings at all.....nothing.
We haven't heard from him since our meeting, he still hasn't put new fliers in our box reflecting the new price - the old agent's name is still on the sign in our front yard AND WE ARE NO LONGER LISTED ON THE MLS SITE!!!!! So, technically, our house isn't even for sale. No wonder no one has called to see it.
My blood is boiling. I just talked to DH and he told me not to call the broker (I tend to go off on people when I'm this upset). We'll deal with this together (when DH is back in town) tomorrow.
We had pretty much decided to drop this guy anyway and probably will try to rent the house....but still, I am FUMING!!!! What in the HE!! ever happened to customer service?
UUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!! I just want to throw somehting......I'm PI$$ED OFF beyond belief......
Thanks for letting me vent here - I don't feel better yet..but I know I will soon!~Jessica

I don't have any experience with the real estate biz, but it is always frustrating when you are paying someone else for their incompetence. Hopefully you find a new agent soon who will be honest and actually work for you.

Oh Jessica, I would be fuming as well. We, too, have had some horrifying experiences with realtors, and some of them have actually been family friends. It's as if they don't care because they don't really have anything on the line except for a commission, while you've got your whole life on the line. They aren't all bad, but I know that one bad experience can sour you.
I'm so sorry this is happening to you!

Well, the GOOD news is you AREN'T paying him a penny. No sale = no commission. At least, I hope you didn't pay him a penny... please tell me you didn't pay him a penny!
So - what about finding another broker? Just curious why the switch from sell it to rent it?If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Oh, yeah, sorry - btw, that REALLY SUCKS and I'd be furious too.
Sorry bout that, got caught up in solution mode and forgot to express my outrage. Stupid Y chromosome at it again

Regarding renting - A story for you.
A friend of mine decided to rent her house out after she had bought a new one. 18 months later she was in court trying to get these people evicted for failure to pay rent. She won and they moved out.
They took: cabinet drawers, lazy susans, cabinet doors, parts of the molding throughout the house, sold the pool pump, took the A/C unit including the "A" frame in the furnace.
They also chipped the tiles in every room there was tile and took the extra boxes from the attic. You don't need to know about the landscaping as I think I have made my point.

Isn't there some type of licensing board for realtors in WA that you can complain to?

Greebo you crack me up! I hadn't even noticed that you went into the guy "solution" mode!
I think you and my DH would get along famously!
As for the switch from sale to rent - we already own one rental property and eventually want to own more. Real Estate investing has been a goal ours for years. We originally decided to sell this house as we wanted the equity out of it to jump start the construction of the new place. Well, the market tanked = no more equity. As it stands now if we get a full price offer we are still upside down.~Jessica
