    Default It's time to move...again!

Our lease for the apartment is up August 14th. We were already planning on moving up into a two bedroom, since we're expanding the family. However, rental prices are ever-soaring, and we are not buying a house anytime soon.

We are paying $1190 a month for our tiny one bedroom apartment. Before you gasp, remember we live in Orange County in the suburbs. That's actually not so bad! But we got our renewal letter in the mail from the complex and they want to raise our rent to $1310!! No thanks!!!

We are now looking at 3 bedroom houses. They range from $1900-2200 a month, and my DH's brother would be renting a room for us. So we would be able to pay the same amount we are paying now, but have more room. And a yard!

Tomorrow we are going to look at a house that is right down the street and they are only asking $2050 a month for it. We would probably pay $1200 and have DH's brother pay $850 since we would be using two of the bedrooms. I'm so excited though!

Oye, and I am sqwaking about 600.00 a month for a 2 bedroom with a looming rent increase. I think I will just take myself and sit back down and be happy.

Good luck with the house. I hope it works out for you guys.

*I need a shocked falling on the floor emotican right now.* Wow prices are high. I can't imagine paying that kind of rent. That is way more than our house payment. Yikes!!

Good luck with your house hunting and I sure hope it works out for you.

    I'm excited for you

Renting an apt is expensive here but is nothing compared to CA. I feel for you.

Good luck with the new apt hunt

    Wowsers!

I guess it's all in how you look at it - depending on where you live, rent is much higher than others.

Anyway, congrats on your (potential) new house!

Keep us posted on your moving progress!

Wow!! I live in a 3000 square foot home and my mortgage is less than $1200 a month. I suppose it is all about location. I do wish you luck with the hunt for a house.

I think a 3 bedrm home sounds like a great value if you're sure you want to rent out one room ~ some people can live together & some just can't.... but that sounds like a great deal for you guys and your brother in law!!

good luck finding something wonderful (with a YARD!)

Wow, we pay 450 a month for a 3 bedroom house with a big yard, and they've never increased our rent in the 4 1/2 years we've been here!

Lordy those prices give me heartburn. But yes, I do get the COL difference. Still....Crikey!

I think its super cool though that you get to move to a bigger house and essentially have relativley the same budget!! Awesome!!

wow i almost spit out my coffee, i think ill complain a little less about my mortgage.

3 bedrooms sound great since you already have a renter i think its a win-win,

as long as bro is reliable and easy to live with because if my BIL moved in with us id go nuts!

Wishing you all the best in your house hunting! A yard would be really nice for the kids! Being from Orange County, I can sure relate with those prices. My parents are paying $1,450. for a tiny little place, but hoping to move out here near us soon. It's not easy, but you do what you gotta do.
