Another great reason why this place rocks
There is no spell police here!
After spending so much time on the net, I hate when people try to correct your grammar and make a big issue of it. (when you still know they can read it)
I sometimes look back at my post and laugh because I messed up or maybe I was toooo tired to look the word up, edit button gone, or can't spell, even. lol. but of course ya all know what is being said...just like I know what you are saying.
I think I spelled something wrong in this post...even. lol
You can be teh "frugal police" but don't tell me I can't spell.
Good night...

That should be "spelling police", and stop shouting!
W should be capitalized in "when".After spending so much time on the net, I hate when people try to correct your grammar and make a big issue of it. (when you still know they can read it)

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

LOL, makes me feel better for messing up words. You won't believe it, but sometimes it is so difficult for me, I mess up words that (to me anyway) sound the same.
Like: allowed and aloud, I really have to think when typing and still mix it up sometimes *sigh**even the worriest day ends at midnight*

So long as I can make out what people are trying to say, I don't care how badly you spell

Poor spelling doesn't bother me as much as forgetting whole words...important ones like "he", "the", "on"...you know, the ones that make the sentence make *sense*
Even still, if I can't make out what's trying to be said, I generally just move on to the next post.

I feel comfortable enough here that I just let my fingers do what they will as well. I've never been much for editing spelling and grammer and think when I'm online "get over it" when people correct mine. "I'm trying to get my thought out before my brain skips on to the next step"......Now numbers for me are what my spelling must be like for the grammer correctors. I can't seem to help myself with numbers (at least in my head), I do try to refrain in actual comment though or comment only if it's truely pertinanent to the discussion.

I can spell OK but I don't always type correctly ~ I just thank heaven for Firefox which has a spell check integrated in it and I can fix spellings before I hit submit.
As for posts I read ~ incorrect spelling doesn't bother me at all

If we're communicating, we're OK.
When my sons were in HS and then college, I would be talking at home, and using what I call 'the vernacular of the house' OR 'homespeak'. That how I speak when I'm in my own home and I can speak the way I want--with all the ain'ts (kiddingly), and 'Sleep good' rather than 'sleep well'. Etc.
Outside of home, I attempt to use fairly good grammar.
My little smarties started calling me on it, so I came up with the terms vernacular of the house and homespeak.
I likened it to the way their favorite rock songs have grammarical (sp? lol) goofs, but it went well with the song. I was like GET OVER IT smarty pants!
As far as spelling goes---The spellings of English words have changed so much over the centuries anyway--who's to say it wasn't spelled that way (a 'mispelled' way) to start with?______

And besides, we can read it if only the first letter and the last letter of each word is right (or is that left?). Doesn't mean we can read it fast!

Spelling mistakes don't bother me, most of the time I can make out what a person is trying to say. I haven't noticed it in this forum yet, but in other groups I have seen people that post and use only lower case letters and no punctuation. I don't read their posts anymore because a post like that is hard to read. As for correcting my mistakes, it really doesn't bother me. Especially if you notice I always spell a word wrong, I would prefer you to point it out to me because I may think I am spelling it right.

Yeah, I don't get hung up on spelling either, but I do HATE HATE HATE all lower case, no punctuation, walls of text. It hurts us precious, it hurts us!!!
Some effort must be made on the part of the person posting to make their post readable by others. Perfection isn't necessary, but complete awfulness in format, grammar and language is nearly impossible for me to get past.
Of course, this is the intertubes - lots of ppl use English as a 2nd language. That requires patience on both parties. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

People who correct one's spelling or grammar bothers me a lot more than someone's spelling or grammar mistakes.

I have to admit I'm all over spelling and punctuation and number usage so I definitely have to tell myself to just look past it online. I don't even allow myself to notice, because it's the message that's important.
Mistakes are fine, we all make them, but I agree that absolutely terrible run-on sentences that last 100 words with numerous abbreviations and no punctuation is quite, quite painful. Don't think I've seen that here though.
Finally, I do want to point out that using Firefox is a lifesaver because of its built-in spell checker!
