Default We lost power for 26 hrs because of the storm

We lost power for 26 hours because of the storm that passed through very quickly yesterday.
They said we had hurricane winds, with rain, and hail.
Two people were killed when a tree fell on there car.
1/3 of all OPPD customers were without power. Estimated 120,000 without power.
Cornfields were leveled. Not sure how many acres but with what is going on in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and now here it is not good for the corn crops this year. Prices are likely to rise even higher.
The Quest center was damaged where the Olympic Swim Trials are to start tomorrow. They will go on as scheduled.
We only lost a few limbs at our house.
Thank god the tree that we are going to have removed did not fall. It is all hollow at the base. If it falls it will fall on the neighbors house as it leans there way.

Here is a link to read all about it.

Wow, that's a crazy storm. No tornadoes? That's some strong strong winds and heavy rain!! Glad that everything is okay with you.

Goodness! Glad to hear you and yours are all okay. We had very high winds and thunderstorms today! The thunder would literally shake the floor beneath our feet! It was pretty scary!

So glad that you're okay and that the tree didn't fall.

I feel so terrible for those families who lost a loved one.

    Love,

We must be from the same general area. The straight line winds were really something to respect! Hubby was working at church at the time, with glass windows on all four sides. He said it was not a fun experience, as he could see all the debris blowing by through the windows. We fared well here though, no major damage. Others weren't so lucky. We were only without power for 3-4 hours.

We live in Southeast Missouri and we had a strong storm Thursday night but just sprinkling and thunder on Friday. Yesterday wasn't too bad but what gets me is the weather guy said Thursday it was gonna stay dry, no rain and then it poured! I sure wouldn't want his job.

We're lucky that we're not close to the river as there's a fear of flooding right now.

Glad you and yours were safe.

Dh just got back in town this morning, his car was parked over in Council Bluffs Iowa when the storm hit. His car looks like a crime scene. The front passenger window is gone and so is the back windshield. Broken glass inside the car. What a mess. Guess we'll be getting a couple of new windows put in the car.

Glad everyone is safe. I was reading about it online and it sounds like it was one terrific storm.

Good to hear you are safe. I hope you can get the tree removed before anymore storms come along.
