If it weren't for bad luck....
Boy, it sure is a MONDAY today...
found out the ex went on a trip to Disney with his new wife and youngest DS....and 'conveniently' forgot to send the child support out before they left. (And I only receive half the normal child support this summer, because one DS stayed with me and the other went with his dad.) So not only is the child support decreased...now it's not here on time.
Worked 5 hours of overtime on Saturday, thinking I'd make almost $100 extra in my paycheck this week, which would have helped make up for some of the shortfall caused by the missing child support. Was reminded by my boss this morning that since I took a vacation day last week, I don't get overtime - it will be paid as straight time. (I'm trying to look at the positive - at least I'll be getting about $50 extra..but that $100 extra was looking a lot better.) My own fault for forgetting about the overtime rule when it comes to vacation days.
Have a $500 attorney bill to pay this week, and it's looking like I'm about $150 to $200 short on it. Things won't fall apart if it's not paid, but it could seriously toss a wrench into the works.
It's going to be a LOOOOONG week. I'm going to be working every night to list as much as possible on Ebay - the higher dollar items first - in hopes of making enough to make things work this week. At this point I'm REALLY regretting spending a good portion of my stimulus check on groceries (though we needed everything I bought, and there were no frivolous purchases there).
I think my mood indicator will read "exhausted" all week, the way it's looking.

take good care of yourself! you can do this!
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Things happen for a reason..and the Lord will provide..I'm usually not preachy but I really believe this. I remember very hard days early on in my marriage-2 kids, husband who'd take his paycheck and spend it buying drinks for all his buddies leaving me to work 3 jobs to pay the rent, bills, food etc..there were many days my kids drank powdered milk and ate nothing but Mac and Cheese from a box..it was hard, and we rubbed nickles together to make ends meet-it took many years for my husband to straighten himself out, we're still broke, but my kids turned out fine..it's the hard stuff that makes us stronger remember! Just hang in their and you'll be back on track in no time.

(((HUGS))) Sorry you are having a rough time and I know it is aggravating knowing your ex had the money to take this trip to Disney..and didn't send you your child support. I've had times like this. But, as my DMother always says to me during rough patches...This too shall pass. Here's hoping your Tuesday is a better day!

If your ex is still at Disney and even if he's not I'm hoping he's spending a lot of time in the bathroom if ya know what I mean. A pox on him!

LOL Darlene! Thanks so much for the chuckle!
I did call him back Monday afternoon and said, "look - I know you're on vacation, and I'll try not to bother you too much here, but you TOLD me this would be mailed out last Friday, in which case, I would have had it on time - on the 1st - when it is due. But since it wasn't sent, this is totally screwing with my budget." He said he'd TRY to send it from there this week sometime. (the word "try" usually means "I'll do it when I get around to it, and you'll probably have to call me 10 more times to remind me of it")
Today is Wednesday, and it's still not here. I can only assume the "try" definition I mentioned above is in full effect. IF (and that's a BIIIG IF) everything goes the way I hope it will, by tomorrow, I MIGHT have enough to pay the attorney bill on time, but nothing else. No gas. No groceries (we're stockpiled, but could use milk & eggs), nothing. So I'm understandably a wee bit stressed right now. But I'm hopeful that things will work out and all fall into place.
Thanks for all the support and helpful comments! :-) I'm looking forward to getting through this mess so I can start being a more supportive and productive member of our little family here!
