I don't object to the professional displays; although we never go to see them.

The neighborhood ones really annoy us. We don't have air-conditioning, so we sleep with the windows open. Impossible to sleep with all the noise, and they seem to go on long after most people are trying to sleep.

If it was just for one night , on the 4th of JULY, I wouldn't complain, but it goes on for several nights.

That's a great point. We had to listen to it Friday, Saturday, Sunday *and* Monday night. Although, to be fair, Monday was the only night it went on from dark till at least 11. The other nights were more sporadic.

I'm thankful that we don't have a fireworks tradition for other holidays besides Independance Day. I know other places have New Year's fireworks, and then there's Carnival. Once a year is enough for me!

I do not like fireworks at all. Even professional ones. When the girls were younger I would take them every year, but when they got older they went with their friends. Fine with me. Just don't find them that thrilling. Rather be home.

This year was the 1st yr. i got worried about personal displays because our state changed the rules last year for this years fireworks. I kept hoping a M80 wouldn't take out my newer roof.
I always worry about the nimrods that think firing a gun straight up in the air in a neighborhood is ok.
Coversely, I love the pro displays.
