Hey, there is a man running through my yard...
And who is that chasing him? It's a cop...HOLY CRAP!
So yesterday, I am sitting right next to my kitchen window, sewing at the kitchen table. Now, we live in a pretty safe neighborhood. We have never had any problems with major crime, etc. Normally, teenagers doing stupid things is the worst we have to worry about.
So I am sitting at the table, right next to the windows (which are floor to ceiling) and I get the shock of my life! Some dude goes running by right up against the house next to the window. Had the window been open, I could have touched him. 2 seconds later, there goes a cop running after him!
They got him...apparently, it was a traffic stop and as soon as they pulled him over, he ran. He is "staying with" (which I take as living with) some neighbors around the corner. Found out that this guy was in prison for 12 years for murder! YIKES!
I think it is time to officially set up our neighborhood watch. We've talked about it for years, but haven't actually gotten to it, so I think we'll be doing that this week!

Oh. My. God.
I am so glad he didn't get inside your house.
I would have had to change my undies if it had been me sitting there!On 11-22-85 I married the man of my dreams.

We've had that happen, only the guy was in his underwear and drunk. Dh went chasing after him after one of the dogs convinced him not to come in the back yard. The police had chasing him for blocks. Things like that are scary.

We've had that happen. Not a murderer but just an idiot who thought he and his six pack of beer could out run them. He lost.

I work in the field and you would be astonished how much crime actually happens in even a small town. You just don't personally see much of it, even in the paper or on the news, just the bigger or more unusual crimes.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

How scary! I'm glad he didn't try to get in your house and the cops got him. I would definitely be setting up that neighborhood watch too.
