    Smile JustMegan, how are you?

I was thinking about you and wondering if you had the surgery yet for your wisdom teeth. I hope so, and that it went well and you are no longer in pain.

    Wow!

That is so kind tht you remembered and asked!

Well, after I had the xrays on Monday and they changed my antibiotic to Keflex (Cephalexin genereic) because the Pennecillin VK was having no effect on the infection and the cysts (which I found out were my lymph nodes) were getting bigger...

So I started taking that and made my appt with the oral surgeon for a consult, that was Tuesday at 2. By tht time I was feeling very odd, hot/cold/itchy/panicky/sweating/felt loopy. I told them this at the consult and they said it was a reaction to the Keflex so I had to change rx again to Clindamycin.

That seems to be working so far but it was 30$ of course it wasnt like the others on the 4$ prescription list.

So they scheduled my surgery for Tuesday at 1040. I have a pre and post op sheet and I am scared to death, but I am feeling better, I think because the antibiotics are actually working now.

But I have been stuck with mashed potatoes and soup broth since last wed and I am becomind anxious about the surgery. It is IV sedation but he said I may not be all the way unconcious.

I am petrified, literally. But I know it has to be done.

Thank you so much for asking. I really apprecite it! YOu all are so sweet!

Glad to hear it, JustMegan, and thank YOU, frugalfriend, for asking.

Hang in there, JM - just a couple more days.

Oh - and regarding the IV sedation - I have had it twice for dental work. You may remain semi-aware of what is going on, but you will feel no pain and you will be very disoriented. I had my wisdom teeth out at 16, and I remember the operation taking about 5 minutes in my head, but about an hour and a half in real life.

The second time I had it done, I was totally out.

In all honesty, the worst part about IV sedation for me was the recovery - those drugs make my stomach do things no stomach was meant to do.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Glad to hear you're hanging in there, despite some setbacks. I'll be praying your surgery goes well! It will be behind you soon, so try not to think about it too much and enjoy the 4th of July holiday. I posted on YankeeMom's thread about her wisdom teeth being removed, that I roller skated the same day mine were removed! And they were impacted too. Keep us updated.

Thanks for the info...I have been asking anyone who has it how it went for them! I got an iPod for my bday last year and havent used it, and am thiinking I could use it during the beginning of the surgery so I couldnt hear whats going on to make me less anxious...last thing I need is to have a panic attack in the chair and stop breathing. Sheesh.

I was thinking about you earlier today, too. Glad you are feeling a little better.

I had my very impacted wisdom teeth out a few years ago and I was nervous, too. After all was said and done, everything went fine. I will say a little prayer for you.
