From guru to "dweeb" *lol*
I was debating about what cell phone I wanted and what company I wanted to go with.
Had one horrid experience with AT&T and decided that I wasnotgonna go with them [these are prepaid accounts I'm talking about.]
Well, I wanted a nice looking phone and ended up going with Verizon and bought one of their phones.
I bought if from Ebay and put in a bid of $25.00 [the phone was new, still in the package so it wasn't bad at all.]
After I had already bid on it, I got to thinking that 99 cents a day access fee [only on days I use it though] was too high, so ...
I was praying that I'd get outbid on it but I didn't ... the auction ended at $19.01 so thankfully I didn't end up paying a lot for it.
My total was $29.01 with shipping and there is $10.00 in air time that come with it.
ANYWAYS, I got the phone today and though I like the looks of it, I don't care for the phone itself [maybe it's just 'cuz I don't like change? *lol*]
So, now I'm thinking about buying a Virgin Mobile phone, it's like 30 bucks and looks good plus has more features on it [and hopefully my little smilies for in my text!]
The phone I got today didn't have any smilies and well, they are a must.
Just thought I'd let ya know what a dweeb I am, here I am - trying to save money and end up spending more.
I've got ADD and things like this seem to happen with me all the time and trust me, it gets depressing [and at times ... expensive as well!]
On the upside of things - my brother and sister in law are having a real hard time with things right now so I might give the one I just bought to them.
I tend to be a real impulsive person so though I want to order the Virgin Mobile phone tonight, I'm gonna force myself to wait at least until sometime tomorrow.
In the long run, the Virgin Mobile one will be cheaper 'cuz they don't charge 99 cents a day just to make one call, etc.
Oh yeah, the one I'm thinking of buying is an LG Flare.
Okay - I'm done rambling and I guess since it's nearly 2 a.m. it's about time for me to hit the bed.
Love,
Jen
Maybe they ought to change my thingie on the side from "guru" to "dweeb". ha! ha!

Wow, .99 a day just for a prepaid. That does seem a bit steep. Hope you find both a phone and a service you love.

Yeah, that's what I thought [it was way too expensive!]
Now, if I were on AT&T prepaid then there still would be a 99 cent charge per day used but since my son has it and lives out of town, I'd have free mobile to mobile to talk to him.
Also, have other family and friends on AT&T as well so that honestly wouldn't be so bad even with the 99 cent charge for the 1st call since then I could call multiple people for free [cell to cell] -
where I couldn't with Verizon ['cuz I'd have no one on that network to talk to with free cell to cell.]
Oh ... what to do! *lol*
Guess I'd best hold off on the Virgin Mobile and "really" think about things before I do order their phone.
AT&T's customer service on the phone really sucks but maybe I can get down to the AT&T store and from then on hopefully won't have to deal with the customer service people on the toll-free numbers [which is where the problems were.]
Thanks for posting on this thread ... sometimes when I post and then someone replies, it makes me stop and think a bit [or it confuses me
] 'cuz now I'm not sure which I should go with. *lol*
No, seriously - thank you for posting on here!
Love,
Jen
Sometimes through my babbeling on, I can figure things out and posting on here is more fun than talking to myself trying to figure things out.

JustPeachy ... yes, that does really help me. [Thank you!]
If you could, sometime could you ask her what it is that she doesn't like about it and then let me know?
I'd appreciate it so much!

karone ... please, don't be sorry for goodness sake! I appreciate everyone's opinions.

I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna go with AT&T and pray that the local store [well - it's within 25-30 miles from here] is easy to deal with and more competent than the toll-free customer service people were. *lol*
Love,
Jen
But then again, until I actually buy the phone - I'm still open to other options.

We switched to an AT&T prepaid phone plan in Feb or March. Since I almost never make calls (seriously - I've made/received 5 calls since I've gotten it), the $.99 per day makes more sense for me than other plans (you only pay $.99 the days that you use it, plus $.10/minute). We bought the phone over the website, and it came on time and was easy to activate. It doesn't have any cool features (I don't even know how to get smilies on the phone!) but works for us.
I haven't had to use their customer service yet, but I have found in general that the stores are more helpful than the 1-800 numbers.
Good luck in whatever you decide!Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

Thanks Sara!
I've decided to go ahead and go with the AT&T prepaid.
I'm the same as you - I don't use it "that" much but do want it for just in case and also the free mobile to mobile with my out of town son will certainly be a blessing as well.
*Hugs*
Love,
Jen
Now as soon as I get a minute and my cat quits bugging me, I'm going on Ebay for a Buy it now for my phone.
Well, before that I do have to call the AT&T store just to ask a few more questions just to make sure of a couple of things and then I'll be good to go.

Well ... I bought my phone yesterday [on Ebay] and when I go down to get it the SIM card put in it, I'll buy a $25.00 card which will keep service on for 90 days.
Will start with that and see how long the $25.00 lasts me, I think I can make it last at least a couple of months [will have to wait 'n see.
