mindless mini rant: preparing food/ hair down
is it just me, or is there a lot of food tv shows lately where the cook has long hair unsecured while preparing food?
gross, gross, gross.
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Yes there are but it doesn't bother me because they aren't preparing my food. It bothers me more if they don't wash their hands after handling meat! It's not my meal but it's still a good habit to get into.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me too much either since it's not MY food they are preparing! I, too, get disgusted when they do not wash their hands!!! Very big pet peeve of mine!

I love having long hair but I need to pull it up to do ANYTHING, especially cook. I am a little ewwww'd by the cooks having hair in their face when prepping food.

It would bother me if they were fixing my food
but I guess they are just keeping up appearances
on the show.
What does bother me is when they are preparing foods say like a meatloaf and they're not wearing gloves. My husband and I are always yelling at the TV "Where are your gloves?"" May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."

I've never heard of anyone using gloves when making a meatloaf?
The hair thing doesn't bother me since she's not making my food. I am guilty of the finger licking deal( see above post)- Oh well!

The thing I notice is they will take cook a piece of meat with washing the meat first. I couldn't stand just taking a piece of chicken out the package and cooking it without washing it. I wash any meat before cooking, with the exception of ground beef.

it doesn't bother me.. they are trying to look good to get ratings. I was taught to yank back the hair first then wash the hands then do cooking ( change shirts if they are fury from animals or dirty from cleaning or working).
as for paula... i think she does a lot that she does to seem more country.. like acting like an idiot and backwards.. a few years ago on tv she didn't act like that.

I have really long hair and I am a cook. Before every shift I have to put all my hair in a tight bun and then put a hat on.
I am not on tv though. I assume they are just able to look that way to get more ratings.
As far as gloves go... they should be on anytime you touch raw meat. Raw meat can get under nails, and raw meat juice can cross contaminate your whole work station. No good.
put that hair up, and put those gloves on, if at home you can leave your hair down, I always do. but wash those hands!Michael Scott

I was @ Subway years ago. The lady fixed a sub before me, coughed into her gloved hand, then asked me what kind of sub I wanted. I said, not until you wash hands & change gloves do I order. She got really red in the face & said she didn't cough. And I said yes you did! Anyway's I didn't order a sub, she didn't wash her hands.
