Who is more frugal, you or your SO?
DH and I come from completely different worlds when it comes to money. His parents were middle class, blue collar workers that saved every extra dime, paid off their mortgage early and never used credit cards.
My dad was disabled when I was 7 then passed away when I was 13. My mom still had the youngest 3 out of 8 kids at home during this time (including me). She raised us on a fixed income and what cash she made cleaning houses. We just survived on what we had, and if we had extra, she splurged on us.
So, in our house, DH is the natural frugal one and I am the spender. We haven't had a credit card balance in over 7 years. I am working on the saving part and cutting back on the small spending that adds up. I like making a budget because I have this nerd fascination with making lists, but the whole "sticking to the budget" thing eludes me at times. Our only debt is mortgage and autos, so I could be making a huge dent in the auto balance if I would stick to it.DJ

Married to DH since 1993

DD age 16
DS age 14

It depends. Dh is more frugal than I in certain areas and I am more frugal than he in others.

DW ceashels is the frugal one. I've been encouraging her to keep a tighter leash on me though.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
Greebo(Nerd Spender): Loving and extremely patiently tolerated husband of ceashels.

While I am more excited by bargains, I have to say DH has more of a frugal mindset than I do. He is also not given to impulses as I am.

I am definitely the more frugal of the two of us!
DH spends it if he has it, and gets it when he wants to spend it!
I on the other hand, hold on to it forever! Unfortunately, DH gets it from me, in the instance above!
I keep telling myself, someday he will come around!

I'm TOTALLY the more frugal one....but I still dream of large purchases. DH as I have mentioned before is a bit of a label hound, and his car had to be new...I gave up my used car and just recently gave up my beloved horse to help save money. Now I admit to feeling some resentment as I'm sitting home all the time while he's golfing..on the membership that's "already paid for the year, so may as well use it". Grrrrr.
