Default Would you rather? Lets play a game.

I thought this might be fun, I am basing this off of a board game called would you rather.

I will post a classic would you rather question and you have to choose one option and tell us why.
If you wish to make a comment or about why you think someone choice is wrong please respond only one time. This isn't a thread to start any major discussions just some friendly banter.

This question will remain for the day and I will choose a new question tomorrow , for as long as this thread remains of interest. So the question of the day is.....

Would you rather have the ability to see 10 years into your own future or one year into the future of the world?

I would rather see into my own future because I don't think that only one year into the worlds future is enough time to make a difference.

I would say one year into the world's future...can anyone say lotto winner? Ok, no but really, there is alot that could be done and/or prevented in the next year! Imagine if someone could have predicted 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, etc. Alot of lives could have been saved.

I'm going to go with 10 years into my own. Because maybe if I knew things were going to be ok...I would stop wasting so much time and energy worrying all the time and be able to be a more productive, contributing member of society.

Well--I definitely do NOT want to see into MY future, so I guess I would choose the world's future because that's the only other option.

hmmm... If you could see into the future you could theoretically change it, but then it wouldn't be the future. or is the future already set and you can't change it?
Which came first the chicken or the egg? The future or the changed future? Can we invest in futures?

I would say one year of the world's future. Like a poster above. Think if we could have stopped 9/11???

I like that life has surprises from time to time so I don't think that I would want to know what was going on ten years from now.

Excellent point! I think that if you change the future then it isn't really the future anymore. Lets say that I saw in my future a really bad car accident, so I decide to avoid the accident by not going out of my home that day. But what I didn't see in my vision was that I was awarded millions of dollars from the accident that could have changed my life for the better.

Kind of reminds me of the movie Back to the Future. Remember all the problems he caused by altering things?

That's really a tough question, if I could see into the future and then changed things because of it, then it wouldnt actually be the future or maybe it would, just the future as I would see it, KWIM?

If I HAD to choose I would say my own future, if I could see I was ok or I was struggling, I can change alot now that would prevent it but than again, I dont like playing with fire.

Think about if you could see the world's future, do you think the people would listen to you because you know what's in store? Do you think the voice of 1 person would make a difference? I just dont know, these days no one listens to one another (except here on the village).

One year into the world's future. I wouldn't want to know what mine is. Each day is a gift and I'd hate to see if something bad had happened to my family. It would hang on me and I'd expend all kinds of energy dwelling on it. As it is doctors predicted I'd have colon cancer within 10 years when I was 16, which was like giving a 16 year old in the 80s a death sentence. Lets just say "they were WRONG!!!", but boy has it colored how I've handled my life. The first few years were spent in the "I'm going to die anyway mode". Now it's a much more positive coloring in that I appreciate more things and each dayand am much more of an anything is possible type. Whose to say the view would be accurate anyway?

I have not read any other responses yet. I will give mine then read them.

BTW, this is such a neat thread!

My choice is: To see one year into the future of the world.

    Why?
By seeing the future of the world for a year ahead, I could in theory plan my own life accordingly. For instance, will there be a huge hurricane in SC? Will be pull out of Iraq, causing ripples across America? Will another country declare war on us? Will the US experience a huge food recall that drastically affects us? And on and on I could go.

Thus, having this prior knowledge I could plan for my family and would be "right on" in the correct prep, because I would know exactly what and when.

I choose not to look into my own personal future life, because I know that would create mountains of stress and anxiety worrying about things I could not change such as the loss of a loved one or some horrendous accident. These things will come to all of us in their own time, no sense in borrowing trouble, I got all I can handle now.

Now going to read others responses....then I promise Ill get back to cleaning this MELL OF A HESS I call my house.
