Does anyone else hate summer vacation?
I know I will probably be the in the minority but I hate summer vacation. I am a very routined type person. I like a schedule and feel much better when I have something to do everyday. I work in the school system so I get the summers off to be with my kids. I loath not having a routine. I keep the kids busy with day camps and such but I get very depressed. I guess I have too much time with my thoughts and it stresses me out. I have trouble getting motivated to clean the house and do basic projects yet when I am really busy during the school year I can get a lot accomplished. My kids get on my nerves and each others nerves. No matter how much I try to keep them busy they still find time to fight with each other. And now, to top it all off, we brought home a puppy last night that I don't even like. My husband and kids love her but she just doesn't do anything for me. Of course, who did she sleep with last night because no one else wanted to listen to her cry? Yep, you guessed it......me! She is a cute little puppy but I just don't want the added stress. Oh well, there's not much I can do about it now. She's here and it looks like she's staying. It's weird, I'm usually the animal person in the family and I haven't bonded with this little pup but my husband and kids love her. This is a new experience for me. I'm usually the one forcing my husband to like a dog/cat! Life can be such a pain sometimes!
Oh well, thanks for letting me rant. I am just going through those midsummer blues. Can't wait for school to start!!!!Live - Laugh - Love

Would it be an option to teach summer school or any class somewhere near?
Hang in there." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."

I am soooooo in the same boat, only I work at night. But trying to find things for my three to do is torchure (sp?) Its too hot for me to clean, especially with no air cond.
My oldest is at day camp right now for the week but the two little ones ore driving me crazy, all they do is fight.
Then when my DH gets home all he wants to do is flop in front of the tv and he lets them do the same until they go to bed....
I hate summer vacations too.....

I love summer.
I sleep until 9 teeheeeeee.
I don't have to be anywhere.
My kids are big--2 are in college and the other is 12. They entertain themselves.
I got a fill up at the end of May. I have added $30 to my tank since. I have a hlaf a tank of gas left.
No sitting in the pickup drop off lane watching my gas get sucked dry.
No fixing lunches. Man I hate making school lunches. Now the kids grab something from what I have supplied.
The only thing I would change would be the extra mess around the house but I am doing okay with it. If the kitchen and bathrooms and livingroom are ok I am ok.The math never lies, budget in INK!
Amount of Free items 2012 $391.33

Debt #2 12/31/12 CC $901.88
Debt #3 12/31/12 $3648.83
Madness, mayhem chaos...my work here is done!

A few years back, one of the back to school ads on TV showed parents happily pushing carts around, picking up school supplies and singing "It's the Most wonderful time of the year!"

My sister and I always sing that to our kids now at Back to School time. I actually like summer vacation. I find lots to do everyday. If its too hot, we go to the pool, rainy, we play board or card games, nice, I take care of my little garden, go for walks, etc. I do relate to the no schedule thing tho, by the end of the summer, I just CAN'T wait!!

I am right there with you also. I was just telling DH last night that I am ready for school to start.
I am all for school to get out and then I do great for the first month because I have my to do list of things I want to get done. I get them done in the first month then here I sit. Getting depressed.
DH does not understand why I am depressed. I told him you sit here for weeks on end with these kids fighting. Walking everywhere to save gas. I told him he at least gets to go to work and talk to adult people.
And on his days off he does not want to do anything. He does not understand I NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE. I really miss my me time.
Thanks for letting me vent also.
He told me this morning if we want to go away for out anniversary at the end of the month he would take his personal days so we can get out of town
Just need to find someone to keep an eye on the kids while we are gone.
