If it was up to you, what would be your kids career?
First of all, we all want our kids to be happy and work in a field they love, ofcourse. They can choose what ever they want to. But in your dreams (or nightmares) where do you see your children? What would be a good job for them?
My DS17 says he is going to be a highschool geography/biology -teacher. I think this would be a great job for him. He loves those subjects and teachers are valued here and paid enough to live well.
Other than that I see him as a writer, newsreporter, in politics or as a researcher of some kind. He is very intelligent but not very handy.
For some strange reason I see him as a vet
.
My DD15 says she wants to work with refugees, help them here in Finland when they come here as asylum seekers. Again, I would be very proud of her. I could also see her as an artist of some sort. Maybe a graphic designer or photographer. Other than that, I think she could be a writer, historian, social worker or a Finnish language teacher. She is very intelligent too, more handy than his brother but a bit slow in her movements.
When I close my eyes I see her doing something creative.
But, as I said, anything goes as long as they are happy.

Anything that he'd be happy doing. He's been in the Navy for the past 4 years and has just re-upped for another 3 years. Looks like he may make the Navy his career.

My 7 year old wants to be an MLB player. More power to him on that one. It would be great if he can continue to live, eat and sleep baseball and make it happen, but we'll see. If not that, I can see him being a police or fireman.
My 4 year old, I can see him being an architect. When he was 3 he drew me a picture of our house. It didn't look at all like a house, so I had to have him explain to me what he did. I gasped when he started to explain everything. He had drawn an ariel view floor plan. Pretty amazing for a 3 year old!

My 7 year old wants to be a cheerleader, police officer, pilot, waitress, and she adds to it occasionally. I think it's wonderful she has such dreams!
She has a heart of gold, always wanting to help others. The best example I can think of, was when she played soccer, a kid on the other team fell down. She stopped and went to him, practically hugging him until the coach got out there. She didn't know this child, but felt bad that he fell down. Her teammates weren't happy, but that's just how she is, and I couldn't be more proud of her!!!

my ds is going to school for criminal justice. i have always thought that he would be in that field.
my oldest dd, even though she has her cosmetologist license, is wanting to go to school to be a psycologist (sp?) she wants to work with troubled kids and to help peopple transition from prison to having a normal life on the outside.
middle dd tells me all the time that she wants to be a vet. i can really see this of her. she never meets an animal that she hasn't liked. she is constantly looking things up about different animals.
she did a report in school about wolves and the teacher called and wanted to know if i had wrote it. i told her no. can't you see it's in her hand writing??? the teacher asked if she had copied what i had written! i said no, took in dd's notes and such. dd got an a+ on the report and the teacher has it hanging in her class. (dd has learning disabilities, that's why the teacher was so surprised!)
youngest dd, i can see her as a comedian, or and actress. she can make a statue want to laugh!

I would love if they became doctors. Especially DS1, he cares for people so much.
I am just trying to keep dd off the pole. Sigh. But I can see her working with animals.
And ds2 I see behind the controls of a wrecking ball.~~ Missy ~~

My DS is disabled to the point to where working is never going to be an option so no career on that one.
My DD I would prefer for her to be a stay at home mom, no doubt about it.
When I have more kids...
I prefer for the women to be sahms and the men to either go into the military/law enforcement or farming/similar jobs.

My oldest -- I always saw him as a band teacher, or something in music. He's a rural mail carrier and loves his job.
My middle - I always saw him either as a preacher or a lawyer (two opposite ends of the spectrum, huh?) He's an aviation mechanic in the USMC
My youngest - I always saw as a teacher, she's studying performing arts, to dance in Christian theater.

DS24 is just finishing up his masters thesis and is looking for a job.
But in this economy, they are laying off people in his field (of course). He is an aerospace engineer. (rocket scientist, lol) He has always loved airplanes and jets and rockets. When he was 2 years old, the shuttle blew up (the first one with the teacher--Christa?) and he watched the coverage with awe and upset, saying 'Uh-oh'. When he was 3, he watched Top Gun (edited by us parents) every day for a year. EVERY ...DAY.....
ask me to recite any line from Top Gun.
DS22 is into his 5th year at a double major--Psychology w/ computer ap.
He has always been very much a people helper. Wants to work with kids and teens. Not in the clinical setting though, more like research. Always interested in how the mind works, what makes people the way they are (studies include mom and dad) and how to help them. At 6'6", he is my 'gentle giant'.
This is the way they've always seemed to me. I'm not surprised.______

oh my gosh...LOL....I am assuming you mean the strip pole?!?!?!
When our DD was about 3 or 4, she had an imaginary friend named....Chrystal Diamond...Dh and I always laugh that would be her stripper name.
Anyways, Sara says she wants to be a Vet and run an animal rescue shelter. I truly hope this is what she does! She LOVES animals and is always watching animal planet!
Other than that, I would LOVE to see her be a SAHM and hang out with me during the days.Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad
and furbabies Morrison
passed away 12/9/07...will be missed greatly and Casey our German Shepherd mixed mutt from the local animal shelter

DS16 wants to be a chef - not just a 'cook' - but a real professional chef, wants to attend a culinary academy (there's one about 80 miles away), the works. I'm encouraging that to the hilt!
DS10, who is a video game FANATIC wants to own & run a video game store, or be a game creator.
DD20, who has had no ambition since her early teens, seems to be absolutely content flipping burgers at this point. Ticks me right off, because she's extremely artistic and has great potential in that area - but she won't explore it. She quit school after failing pretty much all 4 years of high school, moved out and is living with someone she met on the internet, and refuses to learn to even drive a car. I love her beyond belief, but the choices she's making are hard to watch. I know she will eventually turn around (I hope), but this phase of her life has been the hardest for me to deal with as her mom.
